Proposed MISSION STATEMENT For The Nassau County Police Department.

The Nassau County Police Department is committed with a spirit of excellence to improve the quality of life in Nassau County by practicing a philosophy that promotes partnerships between the community and police. Every member and sworn officer of the Nassau County Police Department pledges to provide professional, fair law enforcement services, protect life and property and maintain a safe, peaceful environment through our core values of:

Integrity - We will be unimpaired in our duty to follow our standards and values. Integrity does not stand by itself; it supports our other values of courage, honor, respect and equality.

Courage - We have the confidence and resolution to serve and protect our community. Courage is our tool of control, allowing us to risk ourselves to protect others.

Honor - We honor our role in the community and vow never to abuse our powers. Honor means nobility of mind and a distinction of respect. Our honor allows us to maintain a high level of moral character.

Respect - We will be considerate to the wishes, opinions and decisions of those who we serve and those who we work with. To respect means to appreciate, consider and value. These are the objects that guide every value we follow.

Equality - Every person we serve or come into contact with will have the same rights, privileges and status. We hold equal values with our community and use equality as the foundation of our beliefs and actions.
