The trend of not having a summer class has only been from the 2003 test, which is only 2 classes, so I do not know if you could even call that a trend yet...In the past, especially the 1999 test, I believe all of those classes were in during the summer months.

Here's something new to chew on. Be more concerned with the background investigation. If you ever got locked up, even for a bullshit fight in college, a DWI (BIG red flag!) tickets (another red flag) "experimented" with some illegal substances or even if your neighbor has bad things to say about you, you've got a problem. Getting fired from previous jobs is another issue. I won't even go into the truth detector test. That can be a MAJOR hurdle. The agility test? For the overwhelming majority of people it's a non-issue. The Justice Department has watered it down so much that all you need to do is be able to walk and chew gum at the same time.

I would just like to talk the time out from doing my sit ups to thank those who post good stuff on here. I know for those of you on the job already that we may sound a little over anxious sometimes, but you have to remember waiting. 4 years is a long time and some of us, like myself truely want to be police officers. I want nothing more than to have the opportunity to work with some of you, and unfortunatly, I can not afford to take the job on the NYPD due to such low salaries. 25,000 is starting pay there, try to pay a mortgage and take care of your wife and kids on that salary for 6 months, and then go up to a huge 30something thousand dollar salary. It is just so hard to get on with Nassau and Suffolk these days due to their competitive salaries. I know nassau starts low like the city, but they go up really quick. I have even considered taking police jobs in other states, but leaving Long Island is not the right thing for me to do now. So without this sounding like a sob story, just please understand how some of us have been waiting very patiently. And yes, I can take some of the jokes, like the ones on the last page, and I even laugh and some of them, I can read between the lines from the crap and the good stuff, but as said before, this is all justa speculation site, but speculation that might have some good info hidden that keeps some of our hopes up, that keeps me doing my sit ups, and keeps me running in the cold weather. Again, thanks to those who post reliable stuff here!!!

we will know that a class is going in if the applicant investigators get called back from the street. that command was chopped in half in the fall by the commissioner and told that they would be called back if there was a class going in the fall 07. :wink:

I do not know if this guy has a source...but theoretically, things need to start happening soon for a September class. And, I do not know if you guys know this, but Civil Service told me that class has to go in by November, because that is when the grade from the 6/07 test are established...once they are established, they have to throw out the 03 test!!!

For mine there were between 30-35 people. By the time we had to run there were only 23 people left. Only 17 people passed everything.

My lottery they pulled 300 names and only 60 made it thru the entire process.

Why in the world are there any questions about the agility??? The exact requirements were listed with the announcement, right down to the precise requirement in each category for each age AND gender. How hard is the agility??? Read the requirement for your age and gender, then try to do them. That is how hard it is. It is situps, pushups, and 1.5 mile run. If you ask someone who is a professional athlete, they will say it ws a joke. If you ask someone who drinks their paycheck away every night for the last year, they will say it was horrible. READ the list, get in shape, and stay in shape. Nothing else to say.

I'm a VERY kind and helpful dude. But I can't believe so many people ask the SAME question time after time after time. Questions that were just answered get asked again. I know about 7 guys who have been lawyers and are in the scpd. Good side gig. home closings, wills, divorces, lawsuits etc.....nothing wrong with that, instead of working 400 hours o/t, you do some easy work out of your home....write off the house as a home business, clear another 50k.
By the way, there are assignments for lawyers in scpd..the legal bureau etc. Dont expect to get there out of field training but say 5-10 years down the road

That was sarcasm! Agility dates were not assigned yet. Orientation was just a stock overview about the expectations of the candidates and general info about the job. The only date that was given was when too hand in the background check paperwork. Whoever said that agility dates were given out at the orientation was obviously not at the orientation!

Only that many at the agility that day! Before they do anything with the 90's, I am sure they would want to see the #'s they have left with the 92.5s...do not forget, all the failures get a retest!!!

He said about 120 showed up THAT DAY. There are numerous agility dates for each orientation. They don't do 420 agilities in one day. So if they schedule 130 per agility day, that's 390 total over 3 dates which is how it's usually done.

The agilities were all done in one day on 2/10. The numbers there are the actual numbers. You have to figure, a lot of people may be settled into other jobs by now. It has been 4 years. A lot can happen in that time, especially for regular people (non-law enforcement) A lot at the orientation were NYPD!

They go over your written test..I think its a wunderlich(?) and then ask you questions about your life, experiences etc, fairly simple stuff, just dont tell them about voices in your head etc etc...

You were reponding to me...I don't have my hopes up yet. If we get past the lotto, our chances are obviously better, but with the new test coming out this year, I'm not sure our list will continue into 2008 after the fall class. This is just my opinion of course. As far as the fall class is concerned, the letter makes it appear that they didn't get enough qualified recruits from the 92.5 band for them to move forward. So I guess they are going to chip away at the 90's. I have no clue as to how many they are lookin for. All I can say is that they will blow through the group of 250 rather fast. The agility is the first thing that will bump people out.

I do not understand what the 300 reference is about. The letter only said 250 from the 90s. And out of those who even pass all processing, no guarantees any of those will even be invited to the dance. It all depends on how many 92.5s are potential candidates. Does anyone have any numbers about what is going on with the 92.5s? This is the key to focus on.

Assemblyman Ramos says Levy is using scare tactics to draw attention away from the real issues, such as getting day laborers off the streets and into safe places. He is calling on Levy to meet with him and fellow lawmakers to resolve the matter. The parties have until November to come

Most likely, just like for the last class no one will get notified until the end of August, then you get assigned a date to go to the Quatermaster, and meet the Recurit Training Staff...... Hang on and be patient it will be here soon enough. By the way make sure you are in shape, can SPIT SHINE your shoes, and know your 10 - CODES. Trust me, learning and doing these things now it will make a big difference and less to worry about later...............

I actually heard the class is going in on Sept. 10. This does make sense because in my experience, unless it's a holiday, classes usually begin on a Monday.

I read on the civil service web site that the sales tax issue was passed and December 07 is a definite go for you guys waiting. I made it through until I got banged for the POly. What are you going to do thats life. Even though u tell the truth and know u never were involved in any criminal activity, But they tell u otherwise. If I was offered the job I know what it would mean to me to do whatever it takes to help out others. But anyway good luck to all who made it you deserve it. You guys should do fine in the academy. I hope to be there one day.
