Apparently this is with Skelos' approval. About time. Maybe Skelos should do us all a favor and do the right thing and make the move on the big boy in Nassau as well. WAYYYYYY overdue.

So if Edward Nixon Cox wins as state GOP leader, how about Mondello's Nassau job? Will he be around when his candidates for county office are defeated again?

Mondello has ruined the Nassau GOP and has only raised money for the State GOP. His Election Day record is horrible, if he goes, the GOP could rise again!
Removing Mondello will be a monumental task. D'Amato, Gulotta, Parola, and the SW Nassau Leaders tried 14 years ago and failed. Pataki hates Mondello and I think he's pulling cheer leading Mondello's ouster.
Mondello raised a lot of money in the beginning and brought credibility back to the party. His major problem is that he does not financially support Candidates. Nassau GOP raises Millions of dollars, the Candidates only get a mailing, bumper stickers, and maybe palm cards.
A different management team could change that and rebuild the farm system. Bring in young intelligent Business Men and Women. Become personally involved in local campaigns, visit Candidates HQ's, rebuild the GOP's relationship with the Unions.
There is still a very strong core in both the State and County GOP that can rebuild with a good Leader.

Cox appears alittle on the "blue blooded" side. How is bringing in a NYC WASP going to save the GOP? Cox couldnt even beat the Ex-Mayor of Yonkers in a GOP primary to challenge Hill Dog.

Maybe this "blue blood" is what's needed to get rid of the corrupt mob who control the TOH. Mondello has made Long Island, and particularly the Town of Hempstead, a mobster's playground.
