Why has the press and the politicians kept quiet about the recent rash of criminal actity in L-town, primarily due to restless youths and street gangs? Alledgedly Hispanic gangs from Hicksville are harrassing local Levitt kids with knives and crow bars. One of the most recent incidents occurred by the South Levittown Bowling Lanes.

And all the politicians do is cry about "how great it is to live here even though we must face the segregation issue on LI!" Look around fools. This is no longer Ozzie and Harriet suburbia. There have been diverse, multi-ethnic populations rapidly expanding in Hicksville, Levittown, Massapequa, Elmont, Franklin Square, Manhasset, West Hempstead, etc. Unfortunately, many of the newcomers are not "typical" LIers, since manycome here neither wealthy nor middle class. Unfortunate for them and unfortunate for LI. So, wake up, and if you don't believe its true, take a leisurely stroll through the Sunrise Mall on a Saturday night.

So don't worry about segregation falsehoods. Worry about white flight and the deterioration of the tax base, and the population explosion in children attending local schools whose parents rent illegal sub-divided single family homes and don't contribute to the tax base. Nuff said.

We at Westfield deeply resent the use of one of our flagship shopping malls in the Northeast with false and misleading statements.

Yes, there have been two dozen gang initiatives within the mall confines over the past two years, leading to the disfiguration of 20 females who were slashed with box cutters. Yes, we have on ocassion, required our security professionals to call for Suffolk County and Nassau County Police back-up, about three times per week, due to gang fights and riff raff harrassment of customers and employess, and yes, three dozen employees and shoppers have sought litigation, claiming that the lack of security led to their assaults, rapes, injuries from stray bullets, etc. However, you never mention the beautiful fish pond the Sunrise Mall has on the ground level at the north end.

You see, we can stick our heads up our rear ends just as much as the politicians and sleezy school superintendents can!
