Taxpaying Schmuck

As a NY taxpayer, I'm outraged by whats going on in the Hempstead school district. The incompetent clowns running that district should be on tour with Ringling Brothers. When is the state going to step in, throw them all out, and take over? Is the State of New York afraid of them? What the hell is going on?

What 's going on in Hempstead is a disgrace. Blatent incompetence. Let the state step in.
Roslyn's story is more than a disgrace. Clever cover-up of massive incompetence. Let the state step in.

The problems in Hempstead, William Floyd and Roslyn are just a small sample of 122 individual districts that think they have a cash cow in which to milk the public from. Only when the state forces district consolidations will this end. Hempstead schools is a perfect example of this. Pensions, 6 figure salaries and other benis are more important than the kids. How sad.

You are absolutely right. LI problems go deep. Why do we need 120+ districts with 120+ administrative empires and 120+ union empires?
Nothing will ever be done about this. The powers in control are greedily milking 120+ cash cows all the way to the bank.
Furthermore: 120+ LI school districts maintain segregation. Keeps the poor areas poor.
We owe many thanks to the Roslyn whistleblower . Forensic audits needed in all districts, at least once.
Few places have proven that they exist FOR THE CHILDREN.

You hit it right on the head with the segregation. That is the main reason for the multiple districts. But I dont think the real goal is to keep the poor areas poor but it is really the idea of keeping the kids away from the minority element. Parents dont want their kids to mingle.
Take a look at the Malvern district. The grammar schools are pretty segregated between Malvern and Lakeview. But once they hit junior high and then high school the MAlvern kids transfer out to private schools.
It wouldn't matter how good/bad the school was performing but the parents just pull them out.
Segregation has nothing to do with it. It's the poor learning environment and knuckleheads in the classrooms that people don't want to be associated with. Do schools in minority areas fail because of the teachers in the district, or do they fail because of the attitudes of students and their families who lack the intelligence to understand how important an education is?
There are lousy teachers in every school district who are tenured and can't be fired, but most districts manage to meet educational standards because the students and their families strive to succeed. Blaming the teachers and the school districts for the lack of gray matter in their students' heads has more to do with being politically correct than addressing the truth that no one is willing to deal with, which is that stupidity and ignorance begins in the home.

Let the consolidation begin? Let's keep going until we resember the incredible school system known as NYC Schools. You people are SO ignorant.
Local control is the best control. Don't like you district? Move or do something about it. It is pretty easy to post on this message board isn't it?
Consolidate

There is no way LI schools could be like NYC schools. We pay and pay and pay for what? Tell me.
Consolidate. Bring in the state . Get rid of greedy administrators . Send the teachers' unions packing. Listen up! Face change.
Consolidation Moron

Mr. Moron,
Why now are your taxes going up by on average by 14% when the school levies have gone up on average only half that (7% in case you can't divide). Take a look at the 1980's through 2002, They were always appoximately equal. Why?
Why? Think you know the answer? Here is a hint Einstein:
How much of your tax increase is because of the school levies v. base proportions (you know what these are right?) v. decreased state aid (you realize it goes down right) v. increased mandates (every here of NCLB, 3-8 testing etc.) v. reassessment (read the papers on this one).
Well... I think I gave you the answer because you too dumb to comprehend this message. Here is a typical break down of a 14% tax increase:
class 1 base shift 3% of the increase
Reassessment 3% average county #
Unfunded Mandates 1% very conservative figure
Decrease state aid 3% average district
That means Mr. Einstein that your school levy was responsible for only 4% of your tax increase. Any of the 4% the district can only control about 60% of that 4% because of fixed contractual costs outside of salaries.
Any you want to bring in the state to fix it
They are the ones causing it you moron. Get your head out of the sand and do some research.
Just a question
