An Oregon congressman says he wants to test having a government GPS unit in every car so a tax could be imposed on the miles driven.
The proposal, H.R. 3311, which calls for a test project costing $150 million-plus, was introduced by Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore.
"Oregon has successfully tested a Vehicle Miles Traveled fee, and it is time to expand and test the VMT program across the country," he said in a statement on his website. "A VMT system can better assess fees based on use of our roads and bridges, as well as during times of peak congestion, than a fee based on fuel consumption.
THE DEMOCRAT NAZIS MUST BE STOPPED. LAZY REPUBS BETTER START TO ROUT THEM OUT AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT STARTING THIS NOVEMBER 2009.

Democrats at every level of government must be all voted out of office beginning this November 2009 in order to send a message, "NO Government Communist Health Care".
Beat back the Communist tide, elect ABAD 'Anybody But A Democrat."

You mean the expenses already imposed on taxpayers by special taxing water districts, among others. Have you seen the salaries and expenses lately?
Which political party plays a role in supporting many special districts taxing on residents, and opposes many appropriate consolidation efforts? Hint: it's not the democrats.

GPS tracking of government vehicle use has been proved to be a cost saver for the taxpayers everywhere it has been implemented.

A phony rant of a Commie Democrat Stasi-Polit Bureau member. Democrats Island-wide have created an atmosphere of distrust, suspicion; and selective enforcement on those not "on board" with the Commie Democrat program. Ask any employee where Commie Democrats rule.
just shut up

Stop the crap. Just stop the crap already. You are a member of a party that has been steadily eroding over the past 9 years because of lies like this. Your party has been losing because they are pathetic. They are way out of touch with the residents of Long Island, New York State and the United States. People finally saw through the emptiness of the republicans and rejected them fair and square. You are so done.

Your archaic rhetoric might have been amusing 50 years ago. How old are you, anyway? 80? You should be enjoying your golden years gramps, not grousing on some website.

Typical response from a young liberal democrat whose parents and grandparents are either dead already or who are estranged from this young tyrannt.
OLD PEOPLE NEVER VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS AGAIN
people voted for change not for socialism
end is near for the Democrats

I suppose those opposed to socialized medicine have the means to get themselves to a hospital in the case of an Emergency, because without socialized medicine in the form of government provided Ambulances could not be available on ideological grounds.
Nor could doctors partake of government backed loans for medical school, nor could teaching hospitals train the next generation of doctors, nor research hospitals avail themselves of the latest technology, nor could laid off workers take advantage of COBRA, or soldiers get the care they need at VA Hospitals, nor the poor at public ones!
Opponents of "socialized" medicine must recoil at these things, but let me ask them this....who's prepared to shut down the medical services provided to the senior citizens by way of the most successful medical program this country (and perhaps the world) has ever seen -- Medicare? Which brave Republican will step forward and vote no on Medicare? Any?
The point is, without socialized medicine in America....well, it's a thought too horrible to consider!

Hint: it's not the democrats.Don't worry, under the Democrates it will only get more costly. Their agenda is to remove all the vollies and replace with more government jobs for one reason and one reason only - to expand their base. They don't give a shit about converving anything but their blood thirsty power. Republicans have lost their way a bit but fundamentally I will take them over Democrates any day of the week.

This "kind sounding" bill is a front to begin the dismanteling of our country as we know it. Be careful of what you wish for. Republicans do support Health Care Reform just not this one! How about we start with Tort Reform, Cross State Insurance Competition and Catastrophy Plans for the uninsured. Once we try that we can see where we end up. But to destroy the system for the sake of reinventing it is nothing but undermining our stability even more than it is

EVERY SINGLE proposal the republicans support would actually wind up giving the insurance industry more power over your health and your life than they already have. The insurance companies to a large and glaring degree fund republican campaigns. We need to stop this now.

We need to stop this now.Insurance rates are high because of Law Suits, Fraud and Emergency Room Activity must be paid for someway somehow. The companies have to balance the bottom line. No so in Government, they just print money instead and raise our debt level. Do you seriously think things will get better/cheaper if and when Government takes over. You despise the very hand that feeds you. Yes companies are in business to make profits. Liberals are not after justice for all - they are envious of the power and will stop at nothing until they grab all they can. Every inner city ghetto is run by the democrates. How long have they had to "fix it". Funny how they don't - they just enable it.That's the mentality Dems have. No middle class - just them (The elite) and the common poor they can control.

You think the insurance companies are "balancing the bottom line"?? No, they are making obscene profits by denying claims. Do you think the CEO of Aetna deserves $24 million/yr for denying claims? If so, you need help. Like I said, time for it to stop.

The Socialism of Social Security
The crown jewel of the socialist welfare state in America is Social Security. Rooted in the socialist predilections of Otto von Bismarck, the “iron chancellor” of Germany in the late 1800s, Social Security is one of the most immoral, anti-family socialist programs in America today. It also perfectly embodies the American people’s denigration of the great God-given gift of free will.

Let's make sure you get neither, since you hate the programs.
