West Babylon is facing an increasing problems in their High School.
My sister-in-law works in the school and reports an increasing problem with gang activity that is being swept under the carpet.
Ms. Vassallo has not responded to this problem. Mr. Lynch is disabled and cannont respond.
Security has been rebuffed and is demoralized.
Teachers requests have gone unheeded.
Damage to school property has increased.
Mr. Noble thinks all is fine.
But Hey, the football team is winning!
Why doesn't she go to the school board and tell them?

These are the same people who made promises to get you people to vote yes on their budget and then threw it back in your faces. Do you think they want problems to leak out to the public. We just took it in the shorts with the school tax hike they forced on us. Wouldn't look good to show how inept the administration is now would it! But thats okay just keep rubber stamping their increases every year and you'll notice even nore getting "swept" undet the rug. My answer? Vote them out and tell them no when it comes up next year. But it won't happen because you people actually believe that magically everything will be alright if we throw more dollars at it.

Well, we've got to be politically correct, now don't we? Just like no politician (with the notable exception of Steve Levy) will even discuss illegal immigrants, no school district employee will ever discuss gangs and racial problems in our schools. They're just not going to admit there is a problem, because if they do that they're going to have to deal with it. Heaven forbid! It's far easier to make believe there are no problems and hope nothing major happens, like in Wyandanch. But when the inevitable does happen, school officials will just claim they never saw it coming. In the meantime, everythings just peachy!

Noble issued his scorched earth memorandum on May 24, 2005.
He has threatened to use his "Weapons of Mass
Destruction of working people and programs" in the form of draconian cuts.
I did not see any mention of a reduction in his recent $105,000.00 raise.
The meeting to discuss these cuts is Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Be careful of what you say if you work for the district or have kids in school.

IT MAKES NO SENCE JUST REMEMBER ONE THING THERE'S A THING CALLED FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION ITS YOUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SPEAK UP IF YOUR ANGRY. I WOULD DARE THEM TO DO ANYTHING IT WOULD BE A HELL OF A LEGAL MATTER.
Dr. Noble is running a school district, he should not be paid as much as a Governor, or the President. Yes he is a very educated man, but this salary is excessive. They are like pigs at the trough. Say no vote it down and vote against the incumbent school board if they cannot be responsible to the taxpayers!

The community voted down the North Babylon School District Budget.
More explanation is below. But, if you are interested in the school system operations and/or your taxes, please note the following dates:
RE-VOTE on the North Babylon School Budget will be
June 23, 2005 from 8am to 9pm
A School Board Workshop about the budget will be
June 7th at 7:30 PM
at the High School
A School Board meeting where the budget may be discussed will be
June 16th at 8 PM
at Robert Moses Middle School (over near the Babylon Town Hall Annex, a little out of the way, get directions.)
The community voted no on the budget.
That means that a lot of people exercised their right to vote, spoke their mind, and asked for
improvements and a lower budget.
The School District doesn't care. At the school board meeting after the no vote, they suggested just putting the budget up again...and it looks like that's what they will do.
Their only new strategy will be blackmail.
I went to the District Office to simply ask when the community could discuss the budget. The woman at the front desk tells me the information and takes the time to say that if it doesn't pass there will be 1/2 day only kindergarten, no sports, and no 4PM buses.
Too bad! It won't be the voters fault, if those are the issues that the board chooses to blackmail us with. The School Board and/or the Teacher's Union could reach out by making concessions in other places.
Also, the woman assured me that the difference in taxes will be only "$1". Sure. One dollar per what?? That is bogus propaganda.
I am even more determined to vote no on the budget.
I do so with some guilt about the losses to programs and students. But, I know that you can't let guilt make you let the big, bad guys win in politics.
North Babylon School District needs an attitude adjustment. Guess one NO vote wasn't enough to do the trick.
Please show up at the budget and school board meetings and help us figure out effective ways to trim the fat.
This is all very interesting but this thread says West Babylon, and we seem to have the same problems. Good Luck with yours, we are voting no in West Babylon as well Emporer Noble must be taught his own lesson. The nerve to grab at that much compensation at the expense of the children of the school district. If he can't have his piggy raise then childrens programs get cut.
How disgusting!

remember everyone to spread the word to vote NO....... on next budget. Here's something that i heard that bothers me a friend of mine tells me that his daugthers teaher talk to the kids about budget being voted down. Well here is my problem who gives this teacher the right to talk about this with the children. Teacher tells kids that certain classes are going to be cut and who knows what else she told them .The point i'm trying to say we need to talk to school board or pta president so that these teachers stop using there students as a pawn in there own polictical gain. these people should be ashamed of themselfves.

So you gave in. You should all be proud of yourselves. What did it get you? Look what they removed to "tidy" up the numbers. Lets kill anything that involves the kids. "That will teach them". You people are fools. You fell for it hook line and sinker. Let me ask a few questions. Why is it just the homeowner who has the burden of paying the school taxes? Why aren't the illegal apartment renters paying their fair share? Why isn't it a requirement to show proof of residency and why isn't that matched to homeowner records? Again it's the homeowning taxpayer who eats it but in the end EVERYONE gets to choose how YOUR money is spent. Think about it!!!!! But that's ok. You'll do it again next year. You'll have teachers calling your home and pressuring your children just so they can remain one of the highest paid professions based on 180 days. And the administration will look down their noses at you because you are the uneducated ones and they are the liberal elite. Mr.Noble (notice I didn't say Dr.) will be raising his salary to pad his retirement dollars for just one more year! What was the reason? Oh that's right because noone else would want that job because they are so underpaid. Funny, How many Asst Superintendant parking spots did you see when you voted? How about hire from within. If they are so good why wouldn't they jump at the chance to move up a notch? Just some food for thought........
Do you want to know the sad part, these illegal renters still manage to vote for the budget. You barely have to show proof of residency to vote. It is BS that these people can vote and we have to pay the taxes.
From what I understand, part of the budget was to build new parking lots for the teachers and make the grounds look nicer. How about buying these kids new books. Paying teachers for AIS classes. How about this, and it is just a little far out there, but, how about raising teacher salaries to get some better teachers in the district. If the salaries are more attractive, you will get better teachers for our kids. I'll be honest, I am a teacher who lives in West Babylon, and I would never teach here. Who wants to put up with the crap that they have to for the salary they make?

Under the dems in Huntington and Babylon landlords make big bucks. So much so that nothing ever gets done about illegal dwellings or even having them legalized correctly. The taxpayer still gets ripped off. In Babylon we have houses where tenants pay no taxes but do get to vote in school district elections. Also in the general election they can vote and be totally against what taxpayers want. The landlords could care less because they profit and pay little if any taxes for the extra people living in their dwelling/s. The dems don't mind cause they know that most renters are the very young or those that come from the city or from outside the area to live here and they traditionally vote Democrat.
Over in Huntington this has helped to ruin two of the eight school districts in town. Unfortunately it's all about the almighty dollar not good zoning laws.

I didn't hear that, but I did hear that a student that was tossed from Brentwood for hitting a teacher and is now a student here (how that happened is another story) was suspended. Time to fill the board room and ask board to address each one of these concerns. They can't keep their head in the sand then. I think its time we all take a step back and look at th real problem its not really the children i think its the board the princpal and of corse the teachers who are more worried about their pay check then they are about there students very sad. So i really think that we as parents owe it to our children to get the education they deserve and re-elect a new board some of these members have been there way too long. I also think there should be a time limit on how long you can stay on the board may that should be brought up on the next vote. Remember parents the the board and the staff at our schools work for us not the other way around. So lets stand together and put an end to all this no sense before its too late.

After stopping and taking a good look at the construction at the high school did we really need all of that. Lets start with the fittness center "gym" totally a waste of taxpayers money 20 ft ceilings not using the entire space and glass walls. I want to know when this "gym" starts to be a few yrs old and drafts start who pays for all this heat. NOT COST EFFECTIVE AT ALL...
Now on to the new AUDITORIUM did it really have to be that big. Its not like we have broadway shows going on everyday. And a stage that lowers was that really needed . I do agree that it needed a face lift new seats different color etc.
After seeing all this i think that all that money should of been put into classrooms new books the stuff our children really need. I was outraged when i saw a letter from the school in the beginning of the year asking parents to supply their children with toilet paper are you kidding me. Do we not pay enough already in school taxes I think my question is where is all this money going to.Because its not going to education. after talking to some kids in school again i'm outraged they tell me that teachers have no control of their students. teachers are just passing students just to get rid of them.
So just pushing students through system to make it easier on teacher whats does that do for that person when they get older and can't read or write. So instead of having the biggest auditorium and fittness center maybe WEST BABYLON SCHOOLS should have spent as much time as they did on designing these things. Instead they should of used that time and effort and help educate and keep our children safe.
The Suffolk Police were at the High School on 5/23/06 to investigate a threat that a shhoting will occur on June 2, 2009.
Anyone know about this???
There ere approximately 70 WEST BABYLON students receiving "Home Schooling"
What is the cost to the taxpayer for this "program"

WB residents..your school is being flooded with kids from Wyandanch, Copaigue, and every other $h!thole on Long Island. They are bringing an increased level of violence, gang activity, and general chaos. It is well known by the teachers and admin that the biggest troublemakers do not even belong in the school. Admin is doing nothign about it.
Yes there is a rift between the Latino and African American students...many of whom don't even belong in this school in the first place. Get rid of them and the problems will decrease.
WB teachers are lower paid than most teachers on LI, and have not had a contract for a long time. Knee jerk teacher haters: look elswhere to spew your senseless bile. Yeah, we know that taxes are high on LI..we pay them too. Try taking off the blinders and using your dormant brain for a few minutes.
There was another vicious fight (between girls) last week....again, blacks vs. Latinos. How long before someone brings a gun to the school? No metal detectors, no security presence, and racial strife...not a good thing folks.
I heard Mr. was threatened bya student and all the administration could offer him was the advice to "watch your back"
I don't know if Newsday is reading this board to keep up with real news or not, but I am sure that the West Babylon Administration will not properly report the violence in our schools!!!
Is it any better this school year???
How come there is nothing on the shooting that occurred yesterday at the WB High School. Or anything about the 9th Grader they picked up today at school (with the gun)?????
Too much apathy in West Babylon, nobody cares!
I heard a rumor that the Junior High PTA president had somthing to do with the shooting of those students. Can anyone confirm that rumor?
How come there is nothing on the shooting that occurred yesterday at the WB High School. Or anything about the 9th Grader they picked up today at school (with the gun)?????
You make it sound worse than it was, it was a pellet gun. Still serious but not a shooting in the sense of firearm with bullets.
