This is no run of the mill prison type of assault that is best handled first by Corrections - this is a RAPE, allegedly committed by a corrections officer.

The district attorney has prosecuted far less compelling rape complaints with far less notriety and seriousness. BUT, the DA doesn't seem to see fit to have his 'boots on the ground' in the prison with his assistants and Sex Crime detectives.

Not only should he be investigating this matter first hand, he should be doing it with the intention of a fair and impartial investigation into this serious charges of a rape in a governmental facility.

Has he even bothered to interview the complainant and her attorney? If not, why not?

It appears that the sheriff has the right to investigate this and based on his investigation refer it to the da.
It would be a huge knock if there is any hint of a cover up, which is why he should at least let the da, or scpd special victims investigate.

IF that is too much of a ego blow perhaps he could at least include one of them....
