The "older generation" living in Lindenhurst has it just as bad. Many retired lifelong village residents can no longer afford to live in their own homes. The monthly tax bill, most of which is school taxes, is forcing them out at a time when they should be settling down to enjoy retirement. The only alternative is to rent out part of their homes. The problem is, that with school taxes so damn high, the people buying those houses also have to rent out rooms or make accessory apartments in them to pay the mortgage and taxes. I would be willing to bet that at least 1 in 4 homes in Lindenhurst has a legal or illegal apartment in it. These apartments bring more school age children and higher taxes to pay for them. It's a vicious cycle. Who to blame? How about Lindenhurst Village cracking down on all the illegal apartments? How about the Village hosting a website where residents can report illegal apartments so code enforcement can go out and check. But don't hold your breath, it won't happen. Why? Because then the village might actually have to enforce the village code and get a little backlash from landlords. Their attitude is "don't rock the boat" when it comes to illegal apartments. If you make a complaint about a neighbor with an illegal apartment, there will either be no response from the village, or code enforcement will knock on the door and tell them who made the complaint to make sure you never dare to call again. The problem with that mentality is that it's costing single family homeowners their homes.

Its gotten quiet in Lindy. What's going on folks? We must continue to be watchdogs to ensure this BOE doesn't get out of control.

When is the superintendent's contract up? CAlled there to get a question clarified and can't get through - get nothing but subordinates asking questions on behalf of the super - The super's not in - the super is at a conference - the super is in a meeting. RIDICULOUS. I'M A TAXPAYER AND I OUGHT TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE SUPERINTENDENT.

Should every taxpayer always have access to the supt.? I mean, if you have accesst to him, shouldn't every taxpayer have access to him? Now how many taxpayers are there in Lindy? Maybe they should all call to have their questions answered by him.

Doesn't this sound a little odd? I think so, how can the superintendent do any work if all he is doing is answering questions from residents. Perhaps you should see if there is anyone else who can answer your burning question, which I'm sure is of utmost importance to you, but in the grand scheme of things, may not really be as high a priority as you believe it to be.

Maybe you should share this question with the forum, perhaps someone here can answer the question for you.

Excuse me guest 8:20 pm - in the nicest way possible allow me to say that it is completely unnecessary for you to be such a giant bitch.

Secondly, not like its any of your damn business, but the reason I need to speak to the superintendent is because there is an older teenage boy who is accosting my daughter with sexual advances and I have been dissatisfied with the response of the administration at the school level.

After several attempts to contact the superintendent, I've spoken to 2 different central administrators who keep telling me that I need to have another meeting with the building principal again - and I'm not willing to do it. I think this is an issue of supreme importance, and I don't appreciate having this issue or the welfare and safety of my child being tossed around like a beach ball.

So if you have a child and a predator is after them, I certainly home some insensitive, sarcastic wench like yourself tells you that your "burning issue" is "which in the grand scheme of things probably not all that important" And when they say that, I hope you join me in replying to take their opinion and stick it where the sun don't shine.

I don't think your nasty and insensitive response was warranted or necessary. Next time perhaps you should keep your opinion to yourself if you don't have anything nice or constructive to offer. My daughter and I both thank you so much for stepping up to offer your warped sense of civil responsibility.
