View Full Version : 2 SH S-Teachers Running for SH BOE
You are wrong

First of all they are not teenagers. They are in their twenties. Second of all they are lawyers who worked as substitute teachers while they went to law school. They are not teachers at all. They could never be teachers if they wanted to. Third they do pay local taxes: sales taxes, income taxes, etc. And they are independent thinkers who bring fresh ideas and views to the tables. They know the students and the needs of the students since they worked at the high school. They will add energy to this stale and decieving board. Why would you want to reelect a guy who was on the board for 12 years and a woman who ran last year after serving three years and came in last place??? She goes around telling people she took a year off when really she was booted out of office.

Vote New Blood

If the community does not vote in Ciappetta and Lupinacci, and votes in the other two, there will be no change. The school district will continue to decline and so will the fair market values of our houses. So if Lupinacci and Ciappetta do not get in we might as well sell our houses. The presented them themselves with fresh ideas and perspectives at meet the candidates night. They will fight for the students while keeping the whole community in mind. They have a hard job in front of them but I have faith they can do it. President Bush probably has an easier job rebuilding Iraq.

two teenagers running for school board
live at home with their parents - when they don't live out of district with girlfriends
pay no property taxes
work for SH schools as S-Teachers
If our community fails to change the Board of Education starting this year and continuing next year with Kaden's removal and also Dillon's ouster in 2006,we can only blame ourselves.Make sure to vote, and vote YES but also get others out to do the same.

In their early twenties living at home = teenagers
Didn't pass the bar yet still in school = students NOT LAWYERS.
They don't pay property tax.
They don't get my vote until they understand what I have to do to get by.
Maybe 5 years from now.

There are a few loopholes with your comments. First off they both graduate from law school next weekend and recieve a j.d. which means they are lawyers. They take the bar in July so they can become attorneys (practicing lawyers). Second are you happy with your taxes now? The seven people that are on the board own property. Have they been sensitive to your tax needs? The budget includes an almost nine percent tax increase this year? Are you getting your dollars worth? Are you really going to vote again for Bermudez and De Lerenzo? They had there chances to shine and did not produce results.

What results did you want them to produce?
wait till Tuesday

Okay what did they not produce? Let us see the great policies of Chanin-Bermudaz and De Lorenzo.
Luckily I took notes at meet the candidates.
1. My son sits in two study halls and can't take the electives he wanted to because last year Bermudez and De Lorenzo did not hire teachers to replace the fifteen that retired last year.
2. Both Bermudez and De Lorenzo would not separate the bond vote that resulted in the ability to purchase buses. Where would we put these buses? Whitman or Silas Wood? Why should we ruin those neighborhoods and land.
3. The protrayal of a board that does not respect teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and secretaries. The staff morale is low thanks to Bermudaz and De Lorenzo.
Ass should I add to this list? The choice is clear and the voters will voice that on Tuesday.
I just hope that you spread the truth. We are in this for our kids.

Parent taxpayer is way off base.
First, to be a teenager, one must be 19 years of age or less. If one is in their twenties, that doesn't count.
Second, how well have past board members understood what you have to go through. Obviously not quite well. Are you pleased with their annual 8 and 9 percent increases? Do those rates reflect how you have to get by? Is the so-called fiscally conservative De Lorenzo really fiscally conservative if he raises taxes 9 percent per year. I would hate to see what would happen if he wasn't fiscally conservative.
Third, their education is over. Which means that they are no longer in school.
Sorry taxpayer, wrong on all accounts.
good points, However, on the next thread people were talking about fiscal conservatives, how can you have all these electives but keep the taxes down. Don't blame the school board, ask where all the lotto money is going. Why isn't the state giving us money so we can offer all the electives. Why is the town allowing so many illegal apartments giving us children but no additional money. Change is good, but for the right reasons.
To Old Guard, the two new kids and Bermudez are for the teachers contract renewal at all costs. Imagine if the teachers got what they wanted, what the tax increase would be?????

The truth always comes out. You can buy an election but you can't buy the truth.

Need money to pay for town's housing policy of dumping all immigrants and poor people into my school district. If their actions were fair I'm all for it. But it's not.
How many esl courses and section 8 housing in Cold Spring Harbor school district? In Commack school district?

just to clear one thing up with earlier posts, an employee of a school district is not allowed to serve on the same school district's board of education it's illegal according to State Education law. (can you say conflict of interest)

Funny on the day of the budget vote the teachers contract is settled! Heard it was for about 12.5 percent over four years? Anyway hold on to your wallets now as the two non taxpaying teacher sympathizers got on the board! Time to hang the for sale sign except no one will be able to pay the school tax!

If that is true I am voting against the contract! The Administrators have been rumored to have gotten a 4% increase and at $135,000+ that is wrong.Screw that!!!
Let's just go back to the table...WITHOUT Joe Carbone!!

Lets see the cpi was 2.3 percent and a 3 1/2 percent raise isn't good enough??? You sir are why school taxes are out of control. Be glad you have a job where you are even getting a raise! Out in the real world (you know the one where you work weekends holidays and summers and more than 180 days} most would kill for a raise like that. So vote no, put back on your stupid black shirt, dumb sad face pin and go pretend you are in it for the kids!
