Can anyone expound upon the rumor that the Mineola School Board is presently being investigated?

I read about it, and people tell me that it was brought up at the School Board meeting. Although all lips are sealed.I understand it has something to do with Finance.

The Board initiated an investigation into one of it's members. This is not a negative, it is a positive. They are keeping their house clean, (sorry for the pun).

You don't indict an entire entity when they are the ones who uncover and report a problem. As a matter of fact, you should applaud them for not trying to pull an inhouse cover up. The board is correct in it's actions, to date.

Guess what Sparky, sealed lips are the correct way to aid an investigation. Those lips were open enough to bring in the proper entity to investigate any possible wrong doing. That being done, you shut your mouth and allow the process to move forward.

The recent headlines as to all cover ups that have taken place, in government, the War in Iraq, the Catholic Church , The Police Dept. shootings, and the Fire Dept incident in Staten Island, The Mepham situation Have all been part of a sealed lips agenda. So don"t tell me to shut up, that has been the cause of half the problems in this Country . People who have shut up, and when the problem is uncovered so many people are affected. Especially families who turned to the Politicians , lawyers and Law enforcement for help. Lord spare me from the Cover ups, which turn out to be worse than the actual crime

I did not tell YOU to shut up. If you read the passage again it says:

Let me re-write it for the simple minded:

People should open their mouths just long enough to advise the proper authorities, then keep quiet so a proper investigation may take place.

And by the way, this involves the school administration, not the School Board/Board of Education.

The issue at hand is nothing more than some poor discretion on the part of one individual and his/her assignments of work to school employees. No finance issues are in question to this point

It seems to me that "Open Mind", has an affiliation with either the D A's Office or Someone of authority on the Mineola School Board. Or perhaps he is just full of gas.

If he is affiliated with either of these agencies, he has revealed that the investigation is not one that is concerned with Finance.

However, he then is not beyond speaking about the existing investigation. Which I believe does include finance The Superintendent as well as the School Board is afraid that this will affect the new School Budget when it reaches epic proportions . One person is gone, who had been introduced with the most impeccable resume.

My affiliation is with my children who attend the Mineola Schools. While I do hold a position with the City of new York and have some knowlege of investigations, and the like, I have no stake in this matter.

I am sure the districts finances as well as all other areas, the person in question had responsibilities for, will and should be looked at. My only concern at this point is people assuming "epic proportions". It is thinking such as this which fuels the rumor mill.

As I stated early on, allow a full investigation and await the results. Do not draw your own conclusions based on limited information, which is all any of us have. Should a full disclosure not be made, I assure you, I will let it be known here and in public.

Until then we must continue to support our schools and the children's education, not just our own but all of them. There is no doubt the rumors could have a devistating affect on the upcoming budget vote, too bad, it shouldn't be an issue.

As for the School Board elections, I would contact the incumbent on the slate and ask for information which will not impede the current investigation. If you get none then you vote accordingly.

The problem lies in that there is no opposition on the School Board election.

Yes, I do agree, everyone keep your mouth shut and let the authorities do their work. It is obvious that there is a problem because some one must have enough information and hard evidence to start the ball rolling.
