It's been a year or so since there has been any news in the press about the former Commissioner of Accounts and President of "Democrats for Gulotta." I remember Samansky being a strong DiNapoli supporter. What is Samansky up to these days, other than presiding as Mayor of Saddlerock?

And did Suozzi ever hire a new Commissioner of Accounts?

The commission of acounts title was removed from the budget. I think Suozzi just re-invented it under a new name.

As far as I have heard he is still unemployed but considering running away to join the circus .

Wasn't that title one of the many held by Commissioner Craig "Don't Call Me Buddy" Love. Love started out as Budget Director. Then Became Commissioner of Accounts. Then Became "Commissioner of Investigations," a title that exists in New York City Government and requires the holder to be a licensed attorney with at least five years experience in law enforcement. It is my understanding that Mr. Love is not a lawyer and does not have law enforcement experience.

Graig wouldn't be allowed into the ring, since he would pee himself before he entered his corner

What if it was a "handicap match" and Mr. Love's Partner was Stone Cold Steve Austin?

Is it true that in just one year, Mr. Love has held the following titles under Suozzi: a) budget director, b)commissioner of accounts, c) commissioner of investigations, and d) commissioner of information technology. Thoroughly impressive.

All vertical heads ( law enforcement, EMO, CDCE, HHS CE ,DPW that are involved with emergency operations have cars with communications equipment and emergency lights.

Cars lthat assigned to non-vertical heads who are not involved in emergency operations do not recieve cars with the police package.

Wasn't Samansky handed an $85,000 no-show job as head of PR at the A. Holly Patterson Home (now part of NUMC) by Mondello? He still is mayor of his tiny hamlet and remains a commissioner of the Great Neck Water Authority, which is all hack-comprised.

I'm beginning to suspect that there are at least two D(d)isgruntled T(t)axpayers. The lower case one is doing a disservice to the capital one when he writes things like that. Samansky is a disgrace. Period. He defines the public trough like few others. And your guys led him to the trough and told him to chow down. The fact that there are equally greedy porkers at the current trough doesn't overcome that fact. Your Suozzi criticisms would be a lot more effective if you admitted the equally revolting conduct of your side.

Samansky has to hold the title of the worst stuffed shirt phoney Gulotta ever appointed. As far as Love is concerned I wonder if he has finally sobered up and stopped living in his office at West St.

Just when you think you've seen the last of it (or him) it rises to the surface again.

He could be a chapter in any book of what is wrong with local politics. A turncoat, stuffed shirt (yes, d.t. poseur) with no apparent talents rises to a critical position within county government, based upon an implicit agreement never to open a file or ask an uncomfortable question.

It's sad, in its way. I'm sure Leonard didn't start out this way. I'd even be willing to bet that he first approached government with the best of intentions. Then the perks and the prominence that comes with a title (not to mention a steady paycheck), got the better of him. I can almost hear the little voice inside him now, lurking in the darkness, mumbling...."They took it from usss, they stole it from ussss, nassssty tricksy Democratses...." It's not just absolute power that corrupts. Even tinhorn power can do the trick if the character is weak enough.

The question, therefore, shouldn't be "Whatever happened to...". It should be "How did this happen to J. Leonard Samansky?"

The stuffed shirt is raising his profile, threatening to use his authority as Mayor of his tiny hamlet to sue the Great Neck Library, which wants to expand on its site, just inside his Village. Is making a huge nuisance. Is he still employed by the County in any way?

Has been making a real show at last public meetings, flaunting his "power," real or imaginary. Of course, the Library is right next to the renamed 9-11 Bridge with his name in bronze right under that of his GOP patron, Tom Gulotta.

Local papers say Samansky will be re-elected Saddle Rock mayor by default...but two of his trustee cronies will be challenged by Iranians.....Too bad they didn't run a third against him.

Guess he keeps wondering why Pataki doesn't hand him something like a comfy state no-show job.

J. Leonard Samansky reminds me of the old zombie guy banging on the door screaming "you are going to die" in Poltergeist II.

This is probably how he campaigns door to door in Saddle Rock.

Campaigning door to door would actually require J. Leonard Samansky to do "work."

The Duke of Saddle Rock is working on his big speech for Kaiman's "Town Meeting" on the new Great Neck Library, 3/14...His Highness is the self-styled leader of the opposition. Apparently sent letters to Pataki complaining after state DEC found no objections. Now trying to block NHempstead Zoning Board from considering it.
