Wise up TOH employees and VOTE NO!!!!
"We have some great news", as the letter from the Csea and the supervisor states. "Through mutual trust, respect and cooperation we have reached a tentative accord in the collective bargaining agreement."
What is this crap? 2%, 3%, 3.75%, 3.75% over the next four including 2009?
2% ?????? The year is half over!!! Great, there will be a retro check. Maybe I will go buy a lotto ticket with the 3 dollars!
How is it Supervisor that you can give yourself a 15% raise each year and leave all of your employees a 12.5% raise over 4 years? This is disgraceful!!!!!
Especialy when your 15% raise alone is dam near close to what some employees make before taxes as an annual salary! This is a shame, but I guess as long as your daddy gets his ridiculously high paying job its ok.
The very employees that do the work and make you look good time after time are taking it in the old shwazool! All the while manpower and equipment dwindles to the point where people are working out of their title with equipment that barely works.
Mr Union Pres, this is unacceptable! Grow a set and lets go to a fact finder. How can you be happy with this nonsense? Maybe its because you and everyone else down in Merrick are "in bed" with the 4th floor. Dont think for one second you are getting my vote!
And dont even tell me about the economy. There is 160million dollar surplus!!!!!! And that is with next years budget already satisfied. Why is the town shafting the employees while taking care of all of the big shots?
You have some gall saying that you believe this demonstrates the highest regard for Americas finest workforce while showing respect to taxpayers.
I AM A TAXPAYER. And as an employee of Americas finest workforce I am worth more than 2% which doesnt even let me keep up with the rising gas prices as well as other everyday expenses. Guess that doesnt matter to you with your take home cars!
I cannot wait to vote against both of you. You should be ashamed of yourselves! Lets go Dems!

If the residents knew the salary's for the TOH they would be SHOCKED at the HIGH wages paid to the staff.
Shameful and wasteful spending.

I've been looking for TOH Supervisor Kate Murray's salary but can't find it. What is Murray's salary? What was her starting salary when first elected, her salary today?

I will tell you when you tell me why Suozzi gave himself a 60% pay raise during a recession.

Tell us now, please! Also..... what is Zafonte doing these days? How much is he making? Does he still have access to all his records, etc.?

I thought it should be easier to obtain salary information of public officials, and I am surprised at how difficult this was. I've searched Newsday, NYTimes, etc., and could not locate Kate Murray's salary. However, I did find a number of articles and posts about Kate Murray's father and his current pay rate.
I also searched for election information, since this is typically where this data appears, and came up empty. On the internet I was able to obtain salary data for the TOH supervisor's job when Guardino was in office -- a decade ago.

You may file a FOIL request to obtain all the salary information of elected and appointed officials. See if the FOIL form is on the TOH's website; if not you can request one to be faxed or mailed out to you.

After much effort I found one reference to Kate Murray's salary from January, 2008. It was a proposed salary (another pay increase) of $140,000.
Obtaining budget information was also too difficult, although there are some brief references (just a couple) to Town of Hempstead spending allocations of nearly $400-million. However, I am struck by the absence of normal, ordinary budget information. Where were the tables, charts? These documents were outrageously brief, and there was no breakdown of spending by department or salary for the elected officials in these documents.
This is the issue: is this a democracy? I know the salary of the U.S. president. But what if I didn't and had to keep searching for it? What if I couldn't get information on the president's budget? Does anyone feel comfortable with this?
Want to know the salary of the president of the United States? -- file an FOIA. Does it make a difference to you that the elected official we ask about is a local politician? Or a local budget?
These people are seeking re-election, yet their salaries are not available. Remember this when you vote.
