Since 1993, the Bellmore School district has raised taxes 100%. The current proposed budget is 6.9% or another 1.5 million.
The proposed raise is ridiculous in light of a $18,000 raise last year to the school superintendant and another $8,000 this year. The board has appointed numerous Asst superintendants for six figuire salaries. This district has less than 1100 children and is one of the smallest.
The board has six members. No other board in the state has an even number. Vote for the proposition for the board to comprise 5 members.
Consider voting on the budget. This will send a message that taxes are too high and they will propose a more reasonable budget.
