can someone answer me this question? why do children that live around the block or a few blocks from the school get a bus? when my children were in school they walked . and that was not to long ago (within the last 10 years) this is totally rediculous besides when its raining out the parents wind up taking them to school anyway because the little darlings cant get wet. what a waste of taxpayers money this is. its levittown robbery thats what it is.

in today's world with lunatics snatching up kids off of the porches of their houses, I think it is wise that every child be bused to their schools, the first time a "walker" would get abducted on their way to school, the community would be outraged and than demand buses, but by then it would be too late now wouldn't it? I for one am glad to hear that there are several districts that bus all children no matter where there location to a school building is. Times have changed from a decade ago, and with the perverts going after kids times have not changed for the better.

Every year it gets worse and worse but our politicians say it isn't them. Look at the examples they project from Clinton to the Suozzi administration.

ummm you people are saying kids cant walk to school because its too dangerous for the kids to walk to school alone
arent you the same taxpayers saying that we dont need as many cops on the streets want a cut in police tax and also supporting the shutting down of police sectors
you (the taxpayers) want everything without spending anything

that has never come from me, i for one would rather be safe than sorry, cause the ones that complain like that will also be the first ones to complain that enough wasn't done to prevent something from happening

you are right of course, the way i see it is this, there is good and bad in everything, appreciate the good, improve the bad, and be involved, too often people sit around feeling they are entitled to something, well sitting around waiting for your entitlements will get you no where, when it comes to kids and their safety, never short change it, the price is way to high if you do

Dear GovenorParaki,
I am writing in support of Comptroller Alan Hevesi’s request for $5.8 million to hire 89 additional auditors for school audits.
Governor Pataki’s decision to under fund this necessary safeguard for the 49 additional school districts that employed the same auditing firm as the Roslyn School District leaves these districts open to wide spread financial fraud and corruption. In addition, all districts in New York State are vulnerable to the same mismanagement of school budgets. Without proper funding and oversight, no school system can feel secure that their money is being spent appropriately.
Many New York State students are already faced with poorly run and under funded schools. An independent auditing process with state oversight is vital to ensure that all monies are being spent on educating our children.
I am opposed to Governor Pataki’s $2.9 million dollar cut, and urge you work to re-instate the total amount requested by Comptroller Alan Hevesi so he has the proper funding to hire additional auditors in the wake of the corruption scandal that has tainted the Roslyn school district.
Very Truly Yours,
School District Tax payer

Please cut and paste to email or letter. This is a plea for Governor Pataki to include the 45.8 million needed for the Scool District audits through out Nassau and Sulfork School Districts.. Don't end up in a scandal catch it before it gets worse. If we join forces we can win.
