NEWSDAY reports on the internet, May 24, 2009, that ..."Without soliciting bids or giving public notice, Suozzi has accepted offers of purchase from two leaseholders for nearly 13 acres of public land in the county's sprawling office park that includes the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale. . ." So on the eve of the Lighthouse development which could cause land values around the Coliseum to skyrocket, the County Executive decides to have a fire sale for rock bottom prices to get a one shot influx of cash so he can make it to the next election. The buyers are Democrat contributors no doubt. But I bet Newsday will find a so called expert that will say that one shots are wonderful. You do not have to be an expert to know that the best way to maximize the profit for the taxpayers is to make a public offering and not a private deal that the legislature will rubber stamp. If the people wake up to the fact that their future is being given away at a bargain price, Suozzi is toast. Will they be fooled again?

The county has done this again and again. They do not care about the future. It is right now that counts.

Interesting how you left out the part where Fran Purcell gave the land away to republican cronies as a "stimulus package." Did you forget to include that? Loser.

Suozzi ran as a reformer.

So anything that makes him look like a hypocrite helps Mangano's chances.

Hypocrites lose elections.

Nassau Young Republicans: In Search of a clue
okay, so "young" to these folks is 40. That's a story for a differnet post.Anyhoo, newly minted Nassau Young Republican President Chris Bastardi has a message on the groups website. "BASTARDI BLASTS SUOZZI FOR TIME OF HOUSING SUMMIT" the headline shouts. Seems Chris doesn't like Tom Suozzi. Seems Chris is opposed to affordable housing in Nassau County when he says "Tom Suozzi's plan, to deal with housing is to build low income housing complexes to increase the base of the Democratic Party." Oh, when Chris and the republicans say this, they mean MINORITIES.They don't want minorities who vote Democratic to get housing in Nassau. Funny but that isn't what the Suozzi approach is about. It's about affordable housing for Nassau's young people. Also, republican-led Town of Oyster Bay is moving ahead with similar plans. Hmm.. Chris is oddly silent there.Bastardi continues "Unfortunately, it seems he will be able to accomplish that goal unless we stop his plans now"
Now Chris is playing visitors to his site for fools. He must know (unless he's ignorant) that local zoning boards decide what gets built and what doesn't. Suozzi isn't building anything. Builders are. Suozzi is trying to get builders and the municipalities in Nassau together to solve the youth-drain in Nassau. Why is Chris so against affordable housing for young people? He isn't. He's just opposed to anything Democratic. He'll use the republicans tools of racial code-words and fear to push his own agenda. Bastardi in a special message on the website says "Tax exemptions have been created to assist older residents, residents with low incomes, and those who improve their properties. While these are all worthy exemptions, nothing is being offered to the young people of this county who are just starting out and want to settle down. We are the future and need to demand the respect from our government that we deserve."
Wow. What a liberal thought. Governmnet working to help people achieve thier goals. This is exactly what Suozzi is talking about. But because Chris is a knee-jerk republican, he can't see that.

Why dont you go raise hell over the "Tea Pot Dome" scandal, or something else, ya nut. Suozzi was supposed to fix everything. Washington. Albany Mineola. Suozzi sucks.
