The get a job stuff is just lame. How do you think I have been surviving these last three years. Obviously, I have a job. In fact, I'll have two jobs again very soon. So, for those of you who have been urging me to get a job, you have no need to worry. As for threads on this site, I have only started one: "The state of the fire service". Any others have been started by imposter's. I think even before I registered, my genuine postings were fairly easy to spot. Moreover, I think I do, for the most part, stay on point, unlike some people who see fit to steer every thread on which I post into the area of my employment (or lack of). This post was started on the discussion of Souzzi's "dissing" the fire service. My comment relates to that directly. Just because a politician refuses to kiss up to you guys he becomes a target? Maybe, just maybe, he knows that the volunteers are not the political force that they represent themselves to be, and thus does not see the need to cow-tow(?) to them. Just a thought.

Before he administered the oath of office to the new Nassau County Fire Commission the other night, HERR SUOZZI said he made a conscious effort early on in his term to not attend firematic functions because he was too busy working on the day-to-day operations of running and fixing Nassau County; Suozzi said the problems were caused by his predecessor because his predecessor was too busy going to firematic and every other kind of function. Suozzi said he was upset to be criticized for not attending firematic functions in the past. However, now that he has worked out a lot of the problems and has a good team around him to take care of the day to day operations, he has more time to come to functions.

SUOZZI's comments were made to a packed house of former battalion chiefs and delegates, fire chiefs, ex-chiefs, line officers, 3 Supreme Court justices, one Federal Court judge, a councilman, a Nassau County legislator, mayors and trustees from the County and dozens of fire fighters.

SUOZZI has realized (been told?) that he can not ignore the fire service of this County and be successful in hi next bid for whatever office he is going to run.

SUOZZI is a phony and now wants to suck-up to the fire service after 2 years of disrespect.

I WONDER IF THE FIRE FIGHTERS WOULD REFUSE TO SHOW UP IF SUOZZI CALLED THEM FOR HELP AT 2:00 AM BECAUSE THEY HAD THE DAILY OPERATIONS OF THEIR HOMES, FAMILIES, FULL-TIME JOBS, SKYROCKETING REAL ESTATE AND SCHOOL TAXES, ETC. TO ATTEND TO? I THINK WE ALL KNOW THE ANSWER!

SUOZZI thinks the world owes him a living; I know where he can put the silver spoon that was in his mouth when he was born!

It is worse to have to deal with the threat of not showing up at a house when a fire occurs. I have heard this threat before ,when they have a fund raiser, or they are looking for some extra equipment. Now I know that the majority of Firefighters are dedicated and have given their lives as well as time from their families. But this type of threat
is uncalled for it, it is as though we have some Damocles sword hanging over us, if we do not accede to their wishes we face a no show at a house fire. I do not make this up, it is written by the poster Signal 91 before me. He makes the threat,

The point is that dedicated fire fighters GO to every call, irrespective of whether someone has disrepsected them or not, whether they support the fire service or not. Fire/Rescue calls are NOT something fire fighters ignore. WE WILL EVEN SHOW UP AT OUR ENEMIES and DETRACTORS' HOMES, AND HAVE AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO!! WE TAKE OUR OATH and the SANCTITY OF LIFE SERIOUSLY!!

All dedicated, all willing to put their lives on the line, even for a snake. And Suozzi taught those he left in Glen Cove to carry on his corruption very well. Holzkamp refused...REFUSED!!!...to swear in the 1st Asst. Chief of the GC Dept. because he supported the opposition in last year's election. The up roar continues. Suozzi is a slime. So's Holzkamp. Do us all a favor, firefighters of the county.......DON'T SUPPORT HIM IN 2005!! And please tell your family and friends.

Firefighters forgive and do our job but we have long memories and we vote and we stick together and we aren't so stupid as to think that he can make it up to us now that he's groveling at our feet because he's slowly starting to realize he'll need our votes. Suozzi DOES show up at memorials (ie my uncle's wake-- who passed away during his term as chief), but he shows up where and when he IS NOT WANTED. When I'm in mourning, the last thing I want to deal with is a politician-- especially a Democrat among outr family of staunch Republicans.

Suozzi's presence must have made it worse. Should have slugged him. Only reason he was there was because 1) he's trying to gain ground with the crew and 2) your uncle was a Chief. Suozzi has imposed a definite elitest line - there's labor - that's the crew - then there's Suozzi and his phony balony administrative people. IF he'd been attending these memorials all along, regardless of rank, maybe that've been different. You just shoulda slugged him.
