My vote goes to the GOP stalwart and all around good guy, Kate Murray.

how about the YOM management, which didn't pay their rent for nearly two years even though it received county money in reimbursement for the rent it "paid"?

Say Kate and the town have nothing to do with this private group and some guy blames Kate, classic.
Democrats will say just about anything.

It was a matter that Murray could have stayed out of but she didn't. Now she looks like she couldn't bring the parties to the table and work out a solution. If you are going to come in as the white knight, you better get the result. She didn't....and gives the Dems another issue to run on this fall.
fault Meyer Suozzi

(from Levittown Tribune)
Created initially in 1964, YOM has undergone name changes and a merger
before creating a holding corporation in 1979, called the Youth Building Corporation (YBC) for the purpose of holding the mortgage on the building in which YOM operates and by collecting rent from YOM, paying its taxes and maintaining the building. A separate board of trustees is in charge of policy-making, overseeing social programs and operation of the organization's $2.1 million budget.
According to YOM Board of Trustees Chair Louise Cassano, "occasionally, throughout the years, they have given financial support to YOM by giving grants to them."
YOM Against YBC
Years ago a feud ensued over whether the YBC should continue to exist. Friederika Conway, chairwoman of the corporation board, directed inquiries to Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C. the law firm representing YBC.
According to Tom Levin at the law firm, this issue has nothing to do with feuding boards, "although YOM would like very much to portray it that way."
**********
SO YOM CREATES A HOLDING COMPANY TO TAKE CARE OF THE REAL ESTATE - probably to limit liability- eventually the holding company kicks out its creator. Thanks Mr. Levin for doing this to Levittown. What is the holding company going to do with the vacant building? Is the building on the tax rolls?

The YOM real estate holding company is now sitting on vacant Levittown real estate valued at upwards of $2 million. Who is on this board, and who owns the holding company? In other words, who makes the money if the holding company sells the property? Who benefits? Its obviously not YOM, the non-profit provider of services. Who is Freiderika Conway, Tom Levin and why is Tom Suozzi's dad's law firm involved?
