how can this happen

I was at a junkyard the other day getting parts for my car and I see a beautiful 1995 Chevy Caprice and I ask the guy whats the deal with that car. He tells me that it came in on Friday and there is nothing wrong. I go in the car and look in the glove box and low and behold the registration is in there and it is registered to NUMC. Now my question is:
If all other county vehicles are auctioned off utilizing how can NUMC just call a tow truck and ship it off to Lakewood junkyard on 109 in Lindenhurst? They could have gotten approximately $800.00-1,000.00 easily for that car utilizing the auction process.
Someone should look into this

1995 was almost 15 years ago, check out & you'll see the book value of something that old. NC doesn't oversee that much of the medical center anymore; look for the North Shore sign @ the ER entrance.

Yeah but that vehicle had low miles and a full police package. If you know about the car you will know what it is worth. I would say atleast a thousand dollars at auction. One recently was sold for 1600 that belonged to the pd a few months ago.

since it is part of the North Shore Hospital they should turn in their official license plates on their vehicles.
I think that vehicle in question has been out of service for quite some time. If its the one I'm thinking about it had been in an accident shortly after purchase and banged up pretty good. It had been assigned to the security director and in the cutbacks been taken away by the hospital administration for motor pool use (if at all)
Don't be so quick to knock the Medical Center. It has some services that you won't find in alot of the smaller hospitals such as the Burn Center and being a real Trauma Center.and usually gets the sickest of the sick to treat.

Well, I am no genius, but if they can get almost 1000 bucks for a 93 with @150000 miles on it, shouldnt logic state that a newer car with lower miles should go for more? They could have cleaned up with that car, but instead someone who knew someone whose brother/uncle/cousins father works at or owns a scrap yard got the car (probably for nothing) and now he gets to clean up on the parts. It is a dam shame, and once again the taxpayers get the old shwazool in the cornhole!

Suozzi wasted 70 MILLION to bankrupt NC. You think he cares about a $100 1995 Caprice?
Nickels and dimes add up. Just showing that some shady stuff is going on.
