A routine traffic stop in Holbrook turned into a 15-minute chase that ended with an officer using a stun gun and arresting the fleeing driver being Tuesday in Centereach, a Suffolk County sheriff's department spokesman said.
Joseph Waters, 22, of Centereach, is facing seven charges - among them, a warrant for a parole violation and driving while intoxicated by drugs, Sheriff's Chief Michael Sharkey said. Waters also was issued 12 tickets for vehicle and traffic law violations.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip.
The incident began when a sheriff's deputy stopped Waters, who was driving a 1994 Oldsmobile, on westbound Furrows Road just west of Main Street in Holbrook at 7:18 p.m., police said.
Sharkey said Waters "initially got out of the car and ran" from the scene, but then returned to the car and drove off with the deputy in pursuit. The Oldsmobile was eventually stopped on Route 25 just west of Marktree Road in Centereach with the assistance of a Suffolk County Police Department unit, Sharkey said.
Sharkey said a Suffolk police officer used a stun gun on Waters after he resisted arrest. Suffolk police could not immediately confirm that.
Waters was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated and released to the custody of the sheriff's department, Sharkey said.
Sharkey said Waters had been paroled from state prison on March 31, but he had apparently violated the conditions of that parole and a parole warrant had been issued.
Sharkey said Waters had been convicted of grand larceny auto, but it was unclear how much time he had served.
Waters was charged with DWI-drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic needle, second-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, reckless driving, third-degree unlawful fleeing from a police officer - and the dozen summonses, police said.

I couldn't agree with you more. Some perps have run in the past and will continue to do so in the future, no matter what unit or agency is pursuing them.
It would truly only be a troll who tries to monday morning quarterback this one. And that's because any ReAL street cop knows the sh*t can hit the fan anytime, anywhere.
Good job to both Deps and SCPD on apprehending the suspect.

If you are balancing the budget on the back of your employees, you've screwed up. Bottom line.
Prez. Obama is attempting to revive the country by offering tax breaks, and encourage people to spend. Levy is doing the opposite.
His moves will discourage spending, and make folks struggle. And no I'm not talking about scpd. Sales tax revenue will continue to decrease. All he did was add 10k of his employees who will struggle too. When the next quarters's projected sales tax is lower then what?
The county has collected over 130 million tax dollars as a stabilization fund.
The budget is short 30 million. Yet instead of using that, or a part of that money, suffolks c.e. decided it was time to attempt to force a renegotiation of binding contracts, one of which, the correction officers, took several years to finalize and has not even been in effect for a month.
Suffolk county govt cooked their books, and they screwed up. Now they want to use that to ram concessions down the throats of their workers.

You are totally cluless if you like what ZerObama has in store for our country. Did you like your $14 tax break this year? Good, cause just wait until the Dems pass a Carbon Tax and/or their Cap and Trade policy. Your gasoline, natural gas, electricity and pretty much everything you buy is about to go up at least 50%. Also, his 3 trillion dollar budget WILL mean much higher tax rates in the future especially since they are having an orgy spending all of our money on projects being pushed by liberals which have zero to do with building our economy. I know this is off-topic but I almost choked when I read the above.

The point is levy is working against what the usa govt is trying to do. If obamas plan was to work, levys plan is opposing it.

14 dollar tax break, combined with the 20 bucks levy hiked county taxes for a police class never to see daylight.
Thats a negative 6 bucks
Now he wants concessions from his employees. Whether obamas plan is good or shit, its a plan. Levy doesnt have one, and his actions are working against the federal plan

That 14.00 is almost what good ole Steve need's to keep everything the same in the county without cutting services (18.50 avg) so Steve use the savings for the county. Instead he wants county workers giving up 2 weeeks pay so he can say i did not raise taxes. Nassau is in a hole raising taxes 4 % on the county part ( 1,200) which is 48.00, and the county is still in the hole over 100,000 millinon dollars. Suffolk has 130, 000 in the bank for them and they are telling county workers. we need 2 weeks pay because we do not want to use up the rainy day money( funded by over taxing people for services or employees Steve, never replaced or hired),he says it will effect the bond rating, so will not being able to pay employees and saying either a lag or layoff's. Use the money in the over taxed fund like you should.

No, this does- these guys will air anything, can you say embarrassing!!!
i never thought in a million years that i would be posting on this site but here goes. jason morales is a fucking punk. a skell with a gun and badge. no doubt about it. i saw the video in the bar and almost pissed myself because i was laughing so hard. this piece of shit and his wanna be gangsta rappa friends with their hats on turned sideways were jumping up on the bar in blue point jawwing with this poor bartender. the bouncer came over just trying to keep peace and do his job. you could clearly see this punk morales jump up in the bouncer's face(no doubt telling him that he was a cop). the bouncer kept his cool for a while but then just laid this little bitch out. one of his wanna be gangta friends got knocked out too. fucking beautiful. but the best part of this whole thing was seeing jason's limp body being dragged out of the video frame as the melee was going on. then what does this little cunt do? he tries to get the bouncer locked up for assault 2nd. what a joke. case got bounced up to 6th pcs and they laughed at this little bitch. what about the drug dealer in brookhaven that got taken out by e.s.? guess who he was connected to? that's right -morales. one of the drug dealer's friends made several threats against police officer's involved. morales shockingly did the right thing for once in his life and tipped off the 5th pct. trustee. but in typical punk fashion refused to give the name of this piece of shit even after being ordered to do so by superior officers. everything in this post is true! ask anyone. and i'll tell you one more thing. the next time this little skell talks smack to a detective in the 5th squad will be the last time. write it down!

Lets be honest, as most cops have said, what happened to the dep could happen to any of us.
What happened to scpd also could happen to any of us.
It is the perps desire to escape more then the cops poor tactics.
Scpd handles Far more car stops, interviews and arrests per cop then the deputies. The fact that it doesnt happen more often is to their credit.
