as quoted from the Newsday article about RT 110
"Officials noted that businesses along the Route 110 corridor account for 135,000 jobs - 20 percent of the workforce in Suffolk County. More than 50,000 cars travel the roadway each day, according to the Route 110 Partnership, a consortium of groups involved in the area's redevelopment"

All this is covered by only 1 Police car! These figures do not include the hundreds of new houses that have been built in Melville as well! We need more sector cars in that area. It is totally unsafe for the public the way it is now. How can we ignore an area with 1/5 of the county workforce and so much traffic? If its that imprortant to Suffolk County shouldn't we have another 2 or 3 sector cars in this area?

Interesting article, but 101 and 104 split that Rt 110 section. Just the factory aided cases are enough to keep them busy. Each car can handle 5 mva'a a tour and several shoplifters to process.

The 104 car has turned into such a nightmare and the last 2 operators jumped into Wyandanch seats because that's an easier area to work. Then there's always a boss bugging you about summonses. They're lucky these guys simply show up in the morning.

how about you walk a mile in their shoes before you tell them how great they have it. i would never want to be a cop and i tell my children to not even think about it. most police jobs are difficult and unappreciated. i'm sure some have it good. but many po jobs are filled with stress.

the 211 car covers from just north of Adventureland all the way north till the Northern State and not strictly Rt 110. That is the car they are talking about. A huge sector with a ton a businesses in it, the LIE running through it and a bunch of housing developments that weren't there 5 years ago. Yet the same 1 car patrols the entire area. 2 Major hotels, the huntington quadrangle, another building being built on 110 and the LIE service rd and that train wreck Millenium Hills development where the people are complaining because of the animals that are allowed to live there. I think there has been a few home invasions in there and a few violent felons arrested there as well.
Yet the same 1 man patrol car patrols the area as did when the department was created in the 60's and the area was mostly farmland.

Yes that car is very, very busy. I would dare to say the busiest car in the county on weekdays. I would love to see some stats on response time in the sector along with the number of calls handled each day. Also how many calls are held and for how long. A true response time. From when 911 is called not how Levy and RD like to spin it and say when the call is given to the sector car operator which as we know can be from minutes to hours after it has been called into 911.

6 figures

While the trolls whine, if you have a stupid burglar alarm activation or are naive enough to report something stolen from your vehicle, expect a several hour wait for the PD. The 2 Farmingdale cars are also the primary backup units for North Amityville and Wyandanch. Some burglar alarm calls have waited more than a few hours for a response. Nassau County would have 8 cars to the same area. City more than that.

SCPD needs minimum manning like NCPD. The taxpayers deserve it!

Yea 230 scheduled days minus the 30 vacation days and 6 personal days and 26 sick days. Of course some of the real cushy jobs like cope also get the 28 x days every year.

Plus who thinks 1/2 a year is 160 days. Do the math genius.

There are 52 weeks in a year. The workweek is 5 days. that is 260 days. Scpd works 250. Then comes vacation. Max is 27 days after 15 years, normal is 20 until then . And 5 personal days, not 6.
Cute how you've been told this here 100s of times but you still exaggerate
225 days if all 20 are used, most dont use all them because they save at least 5 days until their "bank is full" 230
Half a year is about 180 days.

Still wrong. Sorry.
I'm sure there will be an lengthy debate that you will come out on the losing end, and then your other personnas will help you out, like always.
