I have heard that the money is being taken out of the Police Budget and being placed into the General Fund? If so is it legal, and if it is why dont someone look into it. I know it is part of the county's rainy day fund, but I just dont understand how we can get taxed for 400 cops that we dont have

It went to levys 130 million rainy day fund. You know the one he wont touch. the one the leg told him to use, instead of asking for all our benes, and 7% cut.
The smoke cleared quickly, and as usual no fire.

This is what Steve Does in any other job he would be arrested for ot
misappropriation . the intentional, illegal use of the property or funds of another person for one's own use or other unauthorized purpose, particularly by a public official, a trustee of a trust, an executor or administrator of a dead person's estate, or by any person with a responsibility to care for and protect another's assets (a fiduciary duty). It is a felony (a crime punishable by a prison sentence.
Also stated to the Legislator's that Sheriffs would save tax payer's money on the LIE and Sunrise Highway then how come this
Newsday (Steve Levy's buddies) have 58% of the top 300 earners are Sheriff's
While the election board had a total of $2.8 million in overtime costs, the report also showed the sheriff's office had 58 percent of the top 300 overtime earners, and received $18.1 million, or 27 percent of the overtime paid to all active employees. Sheriff Vincent DeMarco said he has not seen the report and declined to comment
Read it

How many times has money been withdrawn from the general fund to pay for police overage? Overtime? Lawsuit settlements? (plenty of those)
There is no law that requires all the income derived from the tax line labeled "Suffolk County Police" must actually go into that department's budget or be spent by that department.
The SCPD, unlike your library DISTRICT or school DISTRICT is NOT a "district" and it's portion of the County Budget appearing on County tax bills as a separate entity is required to calculate tax bills. Due to the fact than many county properties do not pay that portion of the SCPD tax, as they have their own police department, their property assessment cannot be figured into the PD's assessed valuation.

All town and village pd taxes include taxes paid to scpd, for specialized services ie homicide

Lawsuit settlements? (plenty of those)
.
The truth is, I am more likely to testify at a civil suit(hopefully on o/t) then i am to be sued.
There are significantly more lawsuits between spouses then civilians vs cops/ suffolk.
Far more between any relatives, neighbors, business partners, parents of children who got into a fight, parties involved in a accident. Victims of crimes vs the defendant and vice versa, I could go on and on. You people as a whole are overly litigous.
Even among those suing the police dept/ suffolk county, more of the suits are the fat asses that couldnt manage the run in the recruit test, or flunked the pysche, then suits regarding wrongful arrests.
And those suits? A joke. Suits because they were searched? Suits because there was no stationhouse bail? Because a Violation of an order of protection is a mandatory arrest?
Its a joke.

NEVER...thats how many. The Police Dept operates on a surplus EVERY year, BUT...you're NOT allowed to use the word SURPLUS in Suffolk, or little Freddy Mercury will have to give money BACK to the taxpayer !!!(This is why Levy has another "fund" called the "Tax Stabilization Fund") . They also passed laws prohibiting them from moving money INTO the Police District from other areas , but are ALLOWED to remove money FROM the Police into other areas !!! The County TIED ITS OWN HANDS, and refuse to undo it.

Are you kidding so now you are saying that people who pay taxes to the Police department on there bill does not mean it goes for that because it is not a district? Tell Steve to get better people on this site. Let's let the New York State Attorney's Office or the Federal Governmint look into thisWell it say's for the Police Department on there tax bill but we don't always use it that way. Again it is( misappropriation is the intentional, illegal use of the property or funds of another person for one's own use or other unauthorized purpose, particularly by a public official, a trustee of a trust, an executor or administrator of a dead person's estate or by any person with a responsibility to care for and protect another's assets (a fiduciary duty). PS : Feds already looking into Levy for other things now is the time to bring everything forward.

Remember that, the next time one of you trolls claim the high cost of scpd is driving you out of your home and off the island.
You cant have it both ways. When we say 1/3 of the police tax goes elsewhere you cannot whine about it,a dn then turn around and claim its not a police tax when it suits you.
The fact is the govt collects taxes in addition to what the police budget is under the police tax. They dont steal it, or give it away. But at the same time, 1/3 of your police tax really isnt a police tax

Tell that to the tax payers not me what would happen if you told the public one third of school taxes did not go to the schools even though it says that on your tax bill. They would go threw the roof looking to arrest someone for
misappropriation of funds and the teachers union would be yelling up to Albany to do something. This is the same thing Steve Levy is stealing funds from the Police Department portion of your taxes to fund his rainday fund or the general fund then blame the Police Department that they are spending to much. With the public being taxed for approximately 300 officers he has not replaced what did Steve do with the money if it is a Police department tax on a homeowners bill that's where it should be so there should be plenty of extra money there. No Steve steals that money and uses it the way he wants to and answers to nobody. Time for Albany and the Feds to look into this.
