Steve Levy is a Liar again
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No matter how you look at it....a Sheriff on OT cost more that a PO on straight time. Good job Mr. Levy trying to save money. You had many people fooled, but now the facts and numbers are out for all the public to see.
"While the election board had a total of $2.8 million in overtime costs, the report also showed the sheriff's office had 58 percent of the top 300 overtime earners, and received $18.1 million, or 27 percent of the overtime paid to all active employees. Sheriff Vincent DeMarco said he has not seen the report and declined to comment."
And of course he declined to comment. He has to call Levy to figure out how to spin this!
Of course Steve will not comment until he can figure who is going to be the fall guy on this(not him). He tried to fool the public with his numbers because he does not like the police dept. In the end cost taxpayers more for less services because he is a arrogant little man. He will not take Stimulus money also is looking for layoff's or lag payrolls. This guy talks about how the sky is falling yet he has 130 million in a fund and lets wait to see the comptroller report on finaces at the of the month. ( county is looking good 60-80 million).
Steve tries his scare tactics again, remeber elections in Nov, 17 out of 18 legislatures up for election and they know it. Time to show Steve enough is enough

Hey why did you not mention what the ot for the police was??????????????
The police department incurred the most overtime at $31 million, with detective union members averaging $18,528 apiece, superior officers $11,069 and PBA members $9,553.

You are right but remember there are only 300 Depuites and 2500 Police officers in SCPD and that 58% of the top 300 in overtime were Deputies. They are still taking a higher percent of overtime than the police dept.

Learn to read, most of the top 10 were political hacks at Board of Elections, and by the way, the AME Union Members are NOT allowed to earn paid overtime once they reach a Grade 24 or above. All those people at BOE are Grade 24s. If the political hacks followed the rules like the rest of the unions, there would be 2.8 Million Dollars back in the budget! Cut, cut and give back, not just the politcally connected.

They gave a list of the top 300 earner's of Suffolk County and stated 58% were Suffolk County Sheriff's. If you take 58% of 300 it comes out to 174. So 174 people on the top over time list were Sheriffs. There are only about 300 Sheriff's. That means more than half of the whole department made the top 300 overtime of Suffolk County. You can not compare that to a couple of top earner's in a 2500 man department.

This is not a correct statement.....the Sheriffs Office consist of Deputies and Correction Officers!!!!!....there are approx 850 C/O's and 270 Deputies......it is 58 % of that.....not 300.The staement should be 58% of approx 1100....now do the math!!!!!

There is a reason no names were in Newsday of the top 300 earner's thats because 58% were Sheriifs (approx 300 Sworn Deputies). Thats something Steve knows and does not want the public to know. Sheriffs are being FOILED so lets see the numbers of OT earners and where they came from.. 58% were Sheriffs if it is Sworn Deputies than it is 174 out of 300 or if you want to count corrections and Deputies 58 % is 638 out of 1100. If it came that way Steve would have been all over Newsday and channel 12 to let the public know, but he did not you know why it was because it came from the 300 Sworn Deputies lets wait and see the report.

Correction 58% of overtime would be 174 out of 1100 if you count corrections.
