Maybe the taxpayers of Rocky Point should be told about how their tax dollars are spent.
I mean do you think that they would really agree with a paid responder from their district being sent out constantly to provide service to other districts? For free.
Here is an Idea why doesn't the Rocky Point fire district post how much it costs them a year to run the program. Then put it to a referendum for the votors to decide. I mean it is their money right.
Let's see how many people are willing to provide free service to Miller Place and Sound Beach.
Lets also explain the system to the Residents of Miller Place and Sound Beach. I mean the real system Not the one that everyone believes. Not the TV Image of the fire service.
Lets explain to them how they are the only Hamlet in the area that does not provide a paid ems System or even a Vollie ALS one.
Lets expalin to them Even though we are the only departments in the area that function like this that we know better.
And oh by the way we have not recieved you donation this year. Was there a mistake???

Maybe if you can find the time and if you can try to be a big brave adult, why don't you bring your concerns to the MPFD Board of Fire Commissioners or any of the Chiefs. Maybe you can help them find this non existent $50,000 Excursion that you mention. Or maybe they can show you the state bid Expeditions that are a reality in this very frugal and responsible Department. Maybe they will explain to you that they also tried the state bid Explorer and found them to be too small to carry the necessary equipment for a first responding unit. You might also learn that the difference between a state bid Expedition and Explorer is minimal. And if you can manage to brave this dangerous field trip, take a close look at the vehicles that the Chiefs are driving, they are replaced as needed, this translates into savings to the tax payers. At least two of their vehicles are over seven years old with over 100,000 thousand miles on them.
So if you think that you can control that trash mouth of yours you are certainly welcome to scrutinize to you hearts content. The Commissioners of the MPFD run a clean and efficient District, one of the cleanest on the Island, they are told this by the auditors every year. Your comments on moving up to ALS are obviously just as uninformed. Maybe if you took the time to check you would find that Miller Place did over 350 ambulance runs last year and requested ALS approximately 15 times. I suppose by your standards it would be prudent to raise taxes with those statistics. A little premature I think. When the numbers or the County mandates that we change you can be sure that we will do what best serves our community. Our neighboring Departments have given us excellent ALS support when asked, just as we feel compelled to assist our neighbors unconditionally in any way can.[/quote]

Hey MP if you read the last few posts you would see that i did not post the rant you are talking about. and stated that.
but while we are on the subject, the fact that you had to call another district for those 15 calls is the problem. Your taxpayers deserve a service that is ready to serve them to the highest level not one that relies on other disticts and their tax dollars.
Try holding your breath sometime waiting for Rock Point to respond into your district thats how it feels to an asthmatic in an attack .. its not pleasant..
ALS is standard of care now .
It should be readily availiable ...
And its not.
And its not garunteed.
Again your dept is years behind

Why break Miller Place's chops. At least they get out on the majority of their calls. I understand that they might not have als (I don't know for sure). Look how many calls go out as a charlie, delta or cardiac arrest in the county and then low and behold the ambulance goes signal 2 and after about 5 minutes of being on scene a signal 3 is banged out for als to the scene. This happens everyday, numerous times during the day for a bunch of FD's/VAC's. I wish I could live in a 7 hundred thousand dollar house in Miller Place, but it would be in SUFFOLK COUNTY that's where the problem lies.

AS A MEMBER OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED ALS DEPT. MILLER PLACE RARELY CALLS US FOR ALS AND WHEN THEY DO THEY REALLY NEED IT. THEY HAVE A LOW CALL VOLUME WHICH IS INDEED GROWING. BUT WORKING WITH THEM AND OCCASSIONALLY HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO RIDE THEIR RIG I CAN HONESTLY SAY THEY HAVE SOME OF THE BEST EMT'S I HAVE SEEN. If you asked the nearly 1800 recipients of care in my district they would no doubt tell you that we were fast, effective and PROFESSIONAL. It's a demeanor too sweetie-not a price tag. Some of you well paid people could not be any less professional. Those two EMTs from Riverhead ambulance who tragically passed away do not need asses like you telling their families what a rip off they were. The number of accidents in NYC, waste of money drunks - fights etc have NOTHING to do with paid or volunteer. Has to do with stupidity, of which you seem to have plenty.

I am sure that there are others from other departments.
That should raise the question: Why does Suffolk county require a person to take a test and have a license to unplug your toilet, YET there is no requirement for one to be responsible for the lifes of the members of the dept. or the residents that are served ???
I, for one, find that very frightening! While I do not think that it should be up to the county, it appears that "we" can not do it for/to ourselves.

7600????????? you got to be kidding me.... he is a fat @#$&# who cant make a desicion for himself without asking a loser ex chief and a commisioner buddy of his first..... he also stood by recently when do nothing 7601 stood at a meeting and bashed 7602 (who has the highest % in the chiefs office by the way)... the chiefs office is a joke and all 7600 cares about is whats going on in hempstead... News flash Chief ..... even they think you and your office are a joke.... is that a call??? lets wait until its over and then drive up in the water van and sign the sheet!!!!!!!! maybe you should sign 7601 then maybe he will get to at least 30% doing a good job just ask loui the photo guy!!!!!!!!!!

Not being a member of any FD I am curious as to how all of these "bad chiefs" get elected? Do "bad members" vote for them?: it is only a popularity contest and that is all over they buy you signal 8 to get in and when they do people s u c k there azz and it goes to there head so i parcially blame the membership being a line officer i see it first hand at meetings it is sad

Your right, IN THE WEST, There are Depts that don"t elect Chiefs and Officers, they elect AZZ KIZZERZ. It's really bad when they try grooming guys to come up the ranks. All they want are YES men. They want to run there little click and screw everyone else. People have to start opening their eyes and realizing that no one person makes a Fire Dept. If you start taking out your personal problems on the younger guys in the department, who are you gonna have left, a bunch of fork and knifers who always talk about how it used to be and how great they were. those times are dead. the new blood of the fire service is whats going to keep it going. Don't see too many guys over the age of 45 signing up for EMT classes or going through probationary training. When you have young guys joining, they don't want to be treated like kids, they can get that at home from there parents. Start treating guys like men and start acting like leaders. Members don't do things cause they HAVE to do them, they do them cause they WANT to do them. The Chiefs in FS and WH must have gotten picked on by the same bullys in high school. Put them all together, and out of the 6 of them, you have one who looks to do the right thing for the membership. Chiefs, you weren't put there by God, you can be removed just as easy as you got in.

30- good guy, great 1st assisstant, not so good leader

32- steady pace, fair but needs to step up and lead with authority
with all this said, lets see what member will get up and voice there opinions about something, even though they can never be found in a truck, engine, or bus.
We have loud mouthed jerks by us too, always saying how this guy doesn't do enough, how that guy is never on a truck, engine or ambulance etc. It always amazes me that when you here someone talking this stuff it's almost always some do nothing moron or half wit who doesn't do all that much himself. I have been in the top 10 % for responders for over 27 years in my FD, I have worked my way up the ranks to Chief twice, and I still have to hold my tongue on a regular basis at election time. Every house has two or three idiots who seem to think we all give a sh!t what they think about anything at all. The last thing on my mind when I scribble a name on that ballot is what the Department drunk had to say the other day about the candidates - get real.

Why was the chief of East Williston dumped the other night by the village board at a secret special meeting. The chief in question was only 2 months from completing his term as chief of Dept. I heard the Mayor's smelly fire commissioner husband was behind it all. Anyone please answer.

Hey guest 5346 if you had or have a problem with the past administration why didn't you stand up and complain like a real men (or woman) at the time when the chiefs where in office? Or maybe you don't have enough balls to do that and you have to hide behind a guest name on the board. I worked with both chiefs as a mutual aid chief and they were one of the best to work with always willing to help when needed. I know that the new chief will continue to do the same which is good for your department!!! To the chiefs and memebrs of Sound Beach keep up the good work and don't let one bad apple take down the department
