With all this talk about Jack Miller and the Wyandanch Fire Co, I though it a good time to chime in with a few little known facts. Who is Miller - a former Suffolk County Detective ( Retired On Disability) - who seems to be known by everyone in the State of New York. Someone asked what did his little bus accident cost Wyandanch? Whatever it is must be peanuts to a company that can spends 10's of thousands of dollars to "upgrade" their bar. ( Excellent use of taxpayer dollars meant for fire equipment to protect the community; don't you think) Chief White's resignation from what I have heard seems to be one of the last steps in a more than year long process to either disgrace or get rid of anyone in that fire house who did not agree with or bow down to the wills of Miller and another old timer Alan Goetz. If your not with us your against us seems to be the status quo around that fire company from what I hear. Most of the local community has had many suspicions about what goes on in Wyandanch Fire Co. for years. Maybe it's time for the people of Long Island to wake up and realize all of the little political empires that are growing behind closed doors at this and many of the Volunteer Fire companies on Long Island. Seems some of these members believe that the community exists to serve their interests not that the fire companies exist to serve the interests of the community.

Jack should become the chief of the Wyandanch Fire Co. Every Department everywhere should have a man like Jack!!! Wyandanch Should count it self lucky to have him. This is a man that was put on this earth to be Chief. A true leader a man we need to follow!! Lets look at his qualifications,He will be a chief that is always around the fire house including Christmas!! So what if he is sauced when hes there hes dedicated. He will have no problem jumping into that chiefs truck after having a few "dozen" beers and racing to the scene to "PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY". He will be a chief that will have no problem telling you the way it is then turning around and telling the next person the other way it is.You now see how important it is that we let this great man take the lead. Who cares what happen in the past lets look toward the future. The first bus (West Babylon) was stopped at a red light. The second bus driven by an unlicensed driver did not stop. When I say unlicensed I mean Jackie Miller does not have the passenger endorsement on his license. Get your facts straight!!!!!
And...Miller's blood should have been tested as a matter of good police work!

This Bus, and all Fire Department Buses are exempt from the V&T, DMV, CDL.They are Consided to be Fire Apparatus.

Tommy....much like a government vehicle you do not need ANY license to drive ANY fire dept vehicle.
and usually you need a court order (search warrant) for a blood test.

A drivers license is required when driving a department bus to other than an emergency.
And as a matter of an serious accident, CDL requirements do so require the blood and or drug test!

To the best of my Understanding of the V&T Law Fire Department Apparatus need only a regular license.And a bus is a resisted as a Fire Truck.Yes CDL OVER 18.000 LBS or if An accident occurs.Or Safety suspicion by the employer/Police the driver would be Drug Tested DOT 49 REGULATION But if your exempt then this law doesn't apply.Unless the Police have reason to believes the operator is DUI/DWI.

Sorry the vtl does not state that the Commissioner of motor vehicle has stated this in a written response to Fire District Affairs on the subject about busses. All fire commissioners should have recieved them about 4 months ago.

You do NOT need ANY license to drive ANY fire dept. vehicle. Emergency or not. It is not required under NYS VTL. BUT it is required by the insurance companies. Maybe that is where some are confused.
And a V&T law is NOT enforcable just because the commisoner of DMV sent a letter to the districts, it would have to be written into law.

Is this the bus accident from last summer? I remember the news saying the buses were carrying members of FDNY to a funeral. Were any members from West Babylon or Wyndanch involved? Were there any serious injuries or were they all minor?

Sorry to disappoint you but Biased is 100% correct NO license is needed to drive fire department apparatus. It is the insurance companies that require it. We were actually laughing about how alot of the old timers couldnt drive themselves to the firehouse but could drive to a fire. You can learn alot from your elders.

you know as a members friend of wyandanch u should all shout up . everyone on this post love's going to parties at there fire house there picnic's and all of you i'm sure have had a drink or two of there beers at the parades and they say nothing except for " have another ". Go to News 12 file footage of election night at DA Spota's Headquarters. Jackie Miller was front and center all night.
But, wait....maybe DA Spota will hire an outside fire to "investigate" Wyandanch. Maybe someone with knowledge of the fire service. Say Roy Fries Private Investigations. I can see it now....Roy goes to Wyandanch...gets a young fireman...I think this is getting into a whole new topic....................

Once again we find our self airing out our dirty laundry too the rest of the computer posting public. Let's not use the threads for our internal matters. Put the big issues on the treads.The ones that effect the operation of the mission not the rhetoric. Wash woman thats what these treads have made us. How did all of theses Departments handle these matters before EZBoards where on the scene.Have they become the wiping post for us, the Hard working Volunteers. To be displayed for all of the world to see. And get busy with our inner-workings.How counter productive is that.Thats why the Volunteer Fire Department will never pull it's self out of the spot light.The circumstances surrounding wyndanch needs to be worked out from within this organization and not judged by outsiders I'm not a member of this Department but I have allot of very Good Friends there.What have we become. The Public doesn't let expose these issues, we the brethren do.The back fighting that goes on is an internal one and should be respected as a private matter. Not for amusement of others.The last Time I looked Fire Department elections of Officers was conducted within the Department, Company, what ever.Why do we feel the need to expose all of our conflicts without sense of consequences .

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you the facts about Jack Miller,For I was a member of the WVFC. Everything that was said all ready is true
And maybe the members of the Danch should start to realize what he is all about. Questions Need to be answered if not by the WVFC maybe other organization like SCPD Why is Jack an active member after being disabled? He even has a handicap tag hanging in his car how will that look in the chief’s car? Let’s not even go there with The bus accident the only reason why he ran into the back of the other bus was because his head was turned looking for another beer. And another note I hear Wyandanch will be racing this year the members of WVFC and all other drill teams should not let jack drive didn’t the bus accident wake you up.

This has got to come to an end he has been chief twice already looking for a 3rd term please Jack get a life. Ever since you got booted from the board the only thing you could be in charge of was the kitchen. Members watch what you eat he might try to poison you next to move up. What the members need to know is Jack is an alcoholic he sits at the bar all day long drinks at least 30 beers for free he never pays a dime, then jumps in a truck to help out, what kind of help is a drunk. He sits there waiting for someone to come in so he can bash others with his butt buddy Roy Fries answer this Jack are you the pitcher or catcher?

does anyone know if Wyandanch complies with "Not-for-profit" Corporation law in not exceeding the 45 percent of members living outside of the district. Seems all the members I know live outside of Wyandanch.
The Town of Babylon Board should be able to answer this as they should approve all members and any change of address by those members

I think part of the reason Jack Miller does not like Steve White is because Steve is a Paid EMT for Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance.
There is no love loss between the two agencies.
Many years ago when Jackie's Black Cat was involved in a "Line of Duty" fatality at the north house, they would not call WWH and their AEMT (who were right around the corner). Instead they called North Lindy to drive through E Farm and W Bab to no avail.

Oh Papa JACKIE!!! Last but not least Jackie For a third term as Chief He wouldn't pass that up for all the beer in Germany!!!!! He needs power and without the firehouse he has NOTHING!!!!! I guess these people didn't do anything during there membership only the new breed.Who have no clue and not looking for one.First off when your deemed disabled by law enforcement New York State disability Law you must be 100% under there guidelines to get 3/4 pay.Now in the Fire Service Pesh/DOL OSHA guidelines adopted by PESH/DOL/NYS requires that you pass that proscribed Physical.Respiratory Protection OSHA 29 CFR 1910-134.Now all your required to do is fill out a questionnaire and depending on how you answer the questions 1-9 will determine if you need a Physical.And only class A Firefighters are required to have Physicals.So Check out the facts and you can also have a Physical with your own Doctor as well.Just send finding to your Department Surgeon.N.F.P.A is only a recommendation not mandatory are you a N.F.P.A.total compliance Department I think not None of us are So don't speak out of school please.So start saving money by not giving everybody a free Physical.

I have just spent the last few minutes reading this thread because someone suggested I look at it. As a member of the Public you guys are so concerned about airing your dirty laundry in front of I'd like to remind you it is our taxes that support your departments.
This is just another example of the problem with the Volunteer Fire-EMS Service on Long Island. They are being run like mini fiefdoms by "small" men more concerned with "their power" than their mission "to protect life and property".
Chief White is yet another victim of the current DIC (Dictator in Control) philosophy. Steve you need to know you are deeply respected by those who know you. You join the ranks of many dedicated young men who have given their hearts and lives to the Volunteer Fire Service only to be railroaded out by innuendo,harassment and even slander by the power hungry "old boys" who have decided for whatever reason they don't like them. Those who remain are afraid to open their mouths or face the same consequences.These men view themselves as untouchable and through their intimidation the members begin to believe they are untouchable as well.
Someone better reign in these power mongers or there will be no Volunteer Fire Service on L.I. - Look what is happening to the EMS Service , how many departments are left without a paid crew??
I have the utmost respect for the young men and women who put their lives on the line every time that pager goes off. Perhaps the "old boys" should realize the future is with them and stop the power games. You had your day let someone else have theirs.
For those of you in the Danch, Keep your heads down you could be the next one in the Miller-Goetz Cross-hairs!

This is an opinion from someone outside the WVFCO.
I am choosing not to write my name here because I have seen and heard of the repercussions that one can reap from the Miller Gang if you get on their bad side.
I know and deeply respect Steve White. I can tell from this thread and the postings here that I am not alone. If Steve ever reads this I hope he knows that many of us are sad to see him go as Chief of WVFCO. If I had the choice of anyone to run my department Chief White would be at the top of my list. I have always found Steve to lead by example, show respect and dignity to everyone - regardless of his personal feelings for them - and always be the model of maturity when the situation calls for it. Steve speaks his mind-you always know where you stand with him. He is adult enough to face his problems and deal with them in a civil and respectful manner.
It is sad to see this happen to Wyandanch VFCO. It has always been nice to see WVCFO contrast WWHAC. The Heights is the prime example of the meek leading the blind, no volunteer agency on the island has poorer leadership or more frightening vollies than them....until now. Over the past year and a half I have watched WVFCO spiral downward slowly, but it would seem that it is taking its final dive with recent events. No longer is there a contrast between WVFCO and WWHAC - perhaps if Steve returns or a leader of similar calibur takes over this will change again. As a vollie myself I take pride in what I do and take pride in the fact that we are all able to keep this fractured system together (sort of). However, I see this system that we strive to perpetuate falling apart. It is because of the grand palacial fire houses and extravagant spending of the districts along with poor response times, poor leadership and petty politics like this that this system is doomed. As sad as I am to say it; 24/7 paid Fire/EMS is on its way and we only have ourselves to blame. The only way this can all be saved is if we address our issues and work TOGETHER to solve them. Please everyone grow-up. Take a look around and see that we are all on the same team, stop the backstabbing and deflate those egos just a tad. The day that Paid Fire/EMS arrives I know I'll be the first one in line to get a paycheck for the same thing I've been doing for free for years, but let's hope that isn't anytime soon.

Do you have anything to do with the fire service? Do you have any idea what you're talking about? The line leadership at WVFCO is superior, the trucks get out and the job gets done. However; what happens on scene is only half the picture, the board (aka Miller) is the other half of the equation-and lets remember that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Please do not disgrace Steve White by even suggesting he was responsible for the downfall. If you continue reading you will find that in my humble opinion, his resignation was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. Yea Miller isn't on the board anymore in a physical sense...But he may as well be His SON is on the board and his son's best friend is on the board and his buddy and old PD partner Geotz is the VP of the board!!! Plus the Pres of the board is a spineless mouse who will do anything the above mentioned parties tell him to do!!! So when Miller wants something done it gets done!!! So once more the corruption and the backstabing is always taken care of not to worry!!!!! In one way or another Miller is still on the board! Just Thought everyone might like to know the whole truth and not just the Great Miller part. From one of his little toadies sent out to do his dirty work!! First of all I think it was wise for Steve White to resign as chief. That would really suck to go down as the worst chief in Wyandanch history. I used the word suck because the worst chief in Wyandanch history was used to sucking everything up his nose. As far as that comment if Jackie doesnt like you, you dont make chief, I guess Jackie really liked this guy because he reached that position three times. HAHA you BLEW it yourself. I guess bleaching your hair doesnt work.
I feel that you guys making these comments about the "old timers" are just jealous. You cant accept the fact that you guys were thrown out before you can get "old timer" status. If it wasnt for them there would be no Wyandanch Fire Company. They are just pissed you guys ruined everything they built from the ground up.

Wow,I can't believe people are still talking about Miller.I knew Miller 10 yrs ago and knew White when he was a Probie.I saw a lot of crap going down w/ Miller.Alot of un-proven spendings he made.I've seen it first hand.He was a nice guy to me because I had no right to judge him.I just sat back and watched.His parties were always great. 1. KENNY’S FATHER made first assistant chief and was THROWN OUT OF OFFICE.
2. KENNY’S FATHER then proceeded to GET ARRESTED 5 TIMES FOR DWI - TWICE IN ONE WEEK.
3. KENNY’S older and younger BROTHERS were both ARRESTED FOR ARSON!!!
4. KENNY’S other BROTHER was thrown out of the Firehouse for STEALING while on mutually aid to another fire department.

A firehouse is a public access building during regular business hours if it's a district! Example Deer Park 9:00am-4:00pm Mon thru Fri.
If its a company such as Wyandanch, North Amityville, North Lindy, East Farm. they most likely own the building.
If its a village guess what!!

Why is it that most and I will say most of the fire dept have their open house and their main house and we get the sub station with the storage barn?
