Why isn't the police department and County Executive investigating the illegal job action that the unions called for. Not writing traffic citations or making lock-ups is disgraceful and subjects every resident and visitor to Suffolk County to unnecessary danger.

Police officers who don't do their jobs, as defined by their employers, can be terminated. This should happen. In what other industry can the employee dictate to his employer what he or she will do? The answer, none, or they would be given their walking papers. Lets see the same happen here with our illustrious, spoiled, over-confident scpd.

And don't bother crying "quotas are illegal." This has nothing to do with imposing a quota system.

I would venture a guess that the union has never called for a job action. If it did that would be page one of Newsday, not a stupid thread started by a dead end troll with a abundance of free time
I would also state the county is happy as the arrests this year are almost 30% higher then last year, and the tickets are within 5% + or - per cop.

Harry's Place knows as much about police work as the trolls on this site. The primary function of a patrol cop is varried and not limited to aswering calls. Any jerk can do that. Cops are LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS and as such they combine a patrol function of their post with the enforcement of the laws they are sworn to uphold and enforce. This INCLUDES writing vtl tickets when appropriate and making arrest where necessary. Is the concept of "protecting life and property" new to you jerkoff?

Can anyone tell us why the Sheriff's have NOT been attending TVB, thus LOSING desperately needed revenue for the County? Why are they not doing the ridiculous T-Stop data compilation on every car stop they make?

Did anyone hear about the Dwi arrest made by a dep sheriff a week or two ago? He arrested the driver and then had Islip Town impound the vehicle as a hazard. The car was taken to a yard in the 1st Pct. The company did an inventory of the car and found a LOADED .380 pistol! The 1st Sqd had to handle the situation. The pistol was not hidden in a trap, it was easily located! Why are the sheriffs getting a pass? I think we know why!

Heard a sheriff had a hit and run on the Suffolk/ Nassau border his supervisor told him to go lock the person up in Nassau (a violation) then she was DWI and now the case is being thrown out since he could not make a violation arrest in Nassau. Who do you think is going to be in federal court for this arrest not good old Steve Levy, and it is because they do not deal with this, this poor guy has to go through all this(Listen to his supervisor,be there done that and everybody in law enforcement knows that).When will the public know that Steve is not saving any money but because he hates the Sufffolk Police Dept and it is personel ( will not ask for Stimulus money ?) this is what happens. Like always Steve puts unions against unions. I think people are starting to see the picture. (wait till the saftey review board hears about the expressway incident when the guy and his 2 kids died thanks to Levy, try to blame it on Sheriif's, not their fault they do not do this day in and day out his day's are numbered, thank God)
