I can attest to the fact that 830 members are the laziest fuckers this side of the Mississippi. They only get off their fat asses when it's time to get themselves a serving of food for a shower, retirement oh shit take your pick on the occassion. Hell you need a cattle prod to get the out of the building when the fire alarm goes off. Best of luck with these sloth like creatures. Maybe if you offer them some free candy bars and bags of chips they'll consider something or another.

excellent idea! and we should ALL protest on monday 3/16 at 5:30pm at the nassau county legislature chamber where they are holding the "nassau county 2009 master plan public hearing" I dont understand why jerry hasnt suggested this yet. and this would be the perfect time and place because it is after working hours and members would have no excuse not to attend directly after leaving work. if ALL members attended, the legislatures would see thousands of possible lost votes in their future election and with that amount of people the news cameras would come out and we would get publicity. what ever happened to the good ol days of protesting? local csea needs exposure. what kind of union is this? wheres the fight? We should attend this meeting in the thousands and demand that the first and quickest way to save nassau money is to demand that all department heads, etc. turn in their county cars and blackberry's.

How can one protest if he/she is sitting on their asses all day rotating their heads looking at the clock just waiting to go home?

You are RIGHT Brother! Get into the streets! Get media coverage! If people are not going to fight now for their jobs, homes and families, then I suppose they'll never fight for anything.
NO LAYOFFS, NO WAGE CUTS, NO WAY!!

Even if this is true, if the union employees organize properly and are motivated, they can volunteer to do campaign work outside their home districts, staff phone banks, drive voters to the polls, etc., to target certain candidates for defeat. Where there's a will, there'a a way...

That's great but it's not election time so stick with the issue de jour, layoffs, furloughs or salary cuts. Take your pick but let's remain focused on present day politics. Talking up the next election cycle doesn't do squat for the here now.

Yes, it does mmake a difference. The whole Legislature, as well as the office of County Executive, the Comptroller and DA will be on the ballot in Nov., 2009. The election is 8 months away, it's not that far off. If the Leg. and County Exec. are concerned that if they tick off the unions and County employees too much during the current budget crisis, they risk paying for it on Election Day, then it does matter.
anyone going?
