Ok, lets open the dialogue...who is lined up for King's seat if he does, in fact, go for the Senate race against Schumer?

The Dem Candidate is Denenberg - no ifs ands and buts (unless he gets beat in 2003) and that seems unlikely.

Interesting aside, GOP might actually want Denenberg to win (one term) so that it could regain his LD seat, and perhaps the Legislature. For that reason alone, they might nominate a Suffolk Rep.

Denenberg's Congressional Run (assuming that he will make one, if King's seat opens up) will be in an off year for the Legislature. So the Legislature seat will not open up until 2005 unless Denenberg wins the seat.

Why isnt he holding hearings on Pat Williams being at OTB? We kno that Suozziauthorized the hire. Common sense! He holds them on everything else. Not Congressional material...............

Obviously the post previous to this one was not by the real SiNick. The Real SiNick knows that the Legislature had nothing to do with hiring Pat Williams. The real SiNick does not support the hiring and would hold hearings (Maybe Peter Schmitt can ask for them): andbelieves Denenberg would be as good a Congressman as who is in there now if not better.

Suffolk Dems should not be overlooked. Bishop raised a lot of money for his last run for congress and made some very good friends with hot shots from the DNC who pledged to help him in the future. He could surprise all of us.

Exactly. He's got plenty to go on and can raise some serious cash too. Plus his record is good and he is a fresh face in Nassau. Nassau voters seem to like fresh starts.

Without question, Denenberg would be the only serious Democratic contender for the seat, the majority of which is in Nassau County, not Suffolk. I believe King will run for reelection and that this point is moot. Further, given that the District is heavily Republican, and engineered to stay that way, I find it unlikely that a Democrat could win it. However, Dave is an excellent campaigner with full knowledge of the issues. I believe Fuschillo would run in place of King, and Dave would have a hard time beating him in a Republican district. I don't see Dave running, though. Also, there is every reason to believe that a Democrat could retain Dave's seat, especially one who is a very good campaigner and has full knowledge of the issues and is a well known Democrat in the community. And The Nassau Party is likely to throw a lot of money at that race to save the seat. Democrats, take heart, the seat will stay in Democratic hands.

Are there any well known candidates in the Community other than Denenberg.
