The Nassau County IT department took 3 or 4 days off from their jobs and shoveled, planted, raked, and hoed a patio behind the Old Courthouse. I personally witnessed as many as 15 IT employees working on it at one time including Commissioner Love. He went out there to work as soon as he finished blocking LIPolitics.com from Nassau County computers.

Talk about a brown-nose suck-up --- can anyone forget how he gushed in Newsday he'd clean toilets for Suozzi?

Suozzi sets up a Technology Steering Committee staffed by loyal cronies. It gives Love cover if anything goes wrong, and allows the machine to steer contracts to firms they want to give business to.

And now he builds a freakin' patio? Is it in the capital plan? Has it been reviewed and approved by Comptrollers? by the Legislature?

Since when do staffers about to be laid off volunteer their money, materials and time on a building project? We're supposed to believe this is a team building exercise? Well if Love says it is, it's only a short time before Suozzi dictates that each department must experience the same exercise!

Craig Love is a sick joke, and an embarrassment to any self-respecting professional now in the administration, and to any taxpayer who voted for Suozzi.

The real question is, What does Love have on Suozzi that continues to protect him no matter what foolishness he gets himself into? Is it pictures? Political "juice"? Money or fundraising connections?

It's gotta be something, or else Suozzi is the biggest fool manager and judge of people.

Then again, Patrick Williams is still at OTB!

Craig is a good guy. He took the crumbling IT department and turned it around for everyones advantage. The IT staff are happy to come to work, their are no egos nor attitudes. EVERYONE is a "team player". (Something other County departments need to learn from.) I think its admirable for someone in such a high title to admit that they have a lack of IT technical knowledge. That takes alot to admit. But he does know how to get things moving. Thanks to Craig and his IT team (that includes everyone in the department), all County departments will have e-mail & new PC's Funny, I don't remember any one else ever getting this much accomplished in less than a year.

Be PROUD of the on going efforts of the IT department. I think all you people who cry and complain are just jealous. Why not shut up and make your own difference. Push a rake....Mow a lawn....Plant a tree....

there is a problem with this patio? Who pays for that? what if it was installed incorrectly, or if someone had gotten hurt during the making of it, or falls and gets hurt in a location that didn't have a patio? And, more's the point, whose permission did he have to build it in the first place?

Its not a deck, its a very small brick patio where some grass was. They planted some flowers and some sod was put down. The patio is big enough to hold a picnic table. Before you have a heart attack, look at it.

IF he really did build it on his own time, without any county funds, as he has stated, and IF he had help from people on their own time, AND it's not a permanent addition, AND he got permission from his supervisor, why should he be fired?

I have tried to remain silent on this issue, but I can no longer contain my bewilderment.

Craig is like the guy that no matter what he does or touches with the best of intent turns into a debacle.

It is not that he is bad, dumb or malicious- there is just a serious disconnect between theory and reality.Maybe it is immaturity, but I can assure you it is not that he is an evil person.

That is where management comes in. Whoever is responsible at the DCE level should be hung for failure to supervise. The press office should be made to do 1000 push ups for cutting off this misunderstood individuals high profile and access to the press.

Eccentric is ok when you are not living in the fish bowl he is currently in. However, creativity and innovation need to be flushed out prior to the exercise.
